Brilliant scientist Dr. Noonien Soong realized Isaac Asimov's dream of a positornic brain with the cretion of a humanoid android; Soong designated the first functional model of this series as Lore, activating him on the Earth science colony Omicron Theta sometime before 2336. Soong designed Lore's form and appearance to closely mimic his own, and engineered the android with sophisticated human emotional responses laid into his programming. While his creation was first successful implementation of a positronic-based artificial intelligence, Lore was flawed, as the colonists of Omicron Theta would unfortunately discover.
As a result of excessive antisocial behavior toward Omicron Theta's populace, Dr. Soong deactivated Lore at the other colonists' request. Aware of the colonists' petition, Lore established contact with a being known as the Crystalline Entity before he was desassembled. Lore lured the destructive lifeform to Omicron Theta, where it consumed all biological life -- leaving every colonist dead in its wake. Lore remained inactive until his twin "brother," Lt. Cmdr. Data of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, discovered and re-assembled him in 2364.
Once aboard the Enterprise-D, Lore again established contact with the Crystalline Entity, offering it the lives of the Enterprise crew. Data thwarted his brother's intentions and beamed Lore into the vacuum of space. Two years later, a Pakled vessel discovered Lore drifting throught the cosmos. In 2367, Lore intercepted a message intended for Data from Dr. Soong, giving Lore the opportunity to steal an emotion chip created for his brother's evolution.
Sometime later, Lore encountered an estranged faction of the Borg. Once again demonstrationg anti-human sentiment, Lore led these Borg in several attacks against the Federation. In 2370, an Enterprise away team overthrew Lore's fortress in the Delta quadrant, leading to his final deactivation and disassembly.
