At first blush, it seemed like a good idea: combine the two most popular science fiction franchises in motion picture history - STAR WARS and STAR TREK - to create the ultimate toy starship, The Millennium Enterprise. But bringing these two unrelated universes together only confused and frustrated kids! Who commands the ship, they asked Han or Kirk? Is that a load of blubber in sick bay Jabba The Hutt or Scotty? Is that Kirks real hair, or is Chewbacca shedding again? Who Knows? Who Cares? Certainly not the toy buying public, which avoided this plastic monstrosity like a lice infested Ewok!
This comic strip was originally published by "Mad" Magazine. And I am certainly glad I never saw any of these toys at "Wal-mart", "Target", "K-Mart", or any other retail store. Even though these stores market special production Star Wars Merchandise.
