.244 Mashburn Loads from Richard Wild
A photo of his 244 Mashburn appears below the load table, along with a recent hunting photo.
The Mashburn Improved .244 is a blown out version of the 6mm Remington with a shoulder angle of 30deg and minimum body taper. Cases are formed by firing factory 6mm loads in the Mashburn chamber. According to P.O. Ackley's Handbook for Shooters & Reloaders, Mr. Mashburn states that this is the most powerful 6mm cartridge he has tested which can be fire formed from regular factory cartridges.

Richard's rifle is built on a trued Remington Model 7 stainless steel action. It has a 2oz. Jewell trigger, 26in. fluted stainless steel barrel with a 1 in 8 twist and .262 neck. The scope is a Nightforce 12-42 x 56 on custom 30mm high rings from D & B Supply. The stock is McMillan. The primary purpose of this rifle is to compete in long range benchrest matches from 300 to 1000 yds. Nevertheless, varminting at rabbits has never been ruled out.
Note from Mike: I included this data due to the fact that it is so close to the Ackley version, and it shows another way
to "improve" the 6mm Remington case. Plus, Richard has a heck of a good looking rifle.

Here is a hunting pic Richard sent. A fox called in to 7 yards, and taken with an old English shotgun.
