WARRIOR
SONGS Warrior Songs were sung by the men as they traveled. These songs were short and were sung for encouragement or about loves, past deeds and praise for an action. A warrior also called on the wolf in song to warn of dangers faced. A song by Weasel Bear of the Santee Sioux illustrates the danger warning. "At daybreak I roam, ready to tear up the world I roam. At daybreak I roam, shivers coming up my spine I roam. At daybreak I roam, awake to who is following I roam. At daybreak I roam, eyes in the back of my head I roam."
