Meet the TTBL

The TTBL is a BBPRO league that started April 1st, 2001. We recently just completed our first season with the Toronto Blue Jays (Ferg1945) winning the inaugural world series. The Tool Time Baseball Leagues is commissioned by Tim Taylor and the Trade Commissioner is Jason Chandler (Commish of FBA). This is my first attempt at running a league. I am a current member of the PHBL and the FBA.

Of the 28 original owners, 21 are still in the league. The league has been very pro-active in removing non active owners. The current owners are a very good group. Several (at least 3) are commissioners in other leagues.

The league took pride on the realistic stats that were produced the first season. The very first sim of the season was too pitcher friendly, but after that the league ran smoothly. The initial draft was handled by the computer. We were hoping that this would create evenly matched teams, which it did. Below are some examples of stats from the first season:

Most Wins - Los Angeles 102
Highest Avg. - Brian Giles .364
Homeruns - Mark McGwire 64
Strikeouts - Pedro Martinez 257
Highest Team Avg. - Minnesota Twins .298
Lowest Team ERA - Seattle Mariners 3.15

There is no salary system used, and the free agent system is players with 4,8,12,15,16,17,18, etc. years of experience become free agents. Each team can protect 3 potential free agents and each team has designated a franchise player that never becomes a free agent. The commish took pride in assembling a solid ammy pool for the first season, and currently has enough prospects for 2-3 more seasons.

The website was recently re-done, and is still a work in process. I am working on adding a team page for each team where they can view team records, awards, or post articles. The league sims on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and rarely strays from that schedule. We are currently full, but are always looking for potential owners. If you are interested in this new league, contact me at TTBLCommish@neo.rr.com.
