"Geri Spices Up ITV"
Geri Halliwell is taking to the small screen - for one night only. The Spice Girl turned chart-topping solo star is working on a one-off special for ITV, which will be broadcast early in the New Year. One Night With Geri will feature her two solo No1s and other tracks from her debut album Schizophonic. And the special set Halliwell's Guide to Hollywood will showcase the star singing her favourite movie songs.

"Geri Tries Hypnosis to Pep Up Her Stage Act"
NERVOUS former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is pepping up her live performances with the help of TV hypnotist Paul McKenna, I can reveal. Geri, now a hit solo singer, went to McKenna for confidence-boosting therapy sessions because she hadn't performed on stage for so long. In one session at his practice in Highbury, North London, he put her into a hypnotic trance for an hour. A friend of Geri's said Paul made the star relax on a big sofa and told her: "When you arouse from this trance, you will be refreshed and full of motivation power. "Your motivation will get stronger until you have all the confidence you need to achieve your targets." The pal said Paul had really helped. "Afterwards she felt ready to take on the world. "For a long while after splitting from the Spice Girls, she just wanted to hide away." Geri decided to give hypnotherapy a try after hearing that McKenna had been a great help with other celebrities. And it seems to be working already. Geri appeared full of life and back to her former feisty self at the recent MTV awards in Dublin. And she won the battle of the Spice Girls last month by beating Baby Spice Emma Bunton to the number one spot with her single Lift Me Up. But there's no truth in the rumour that McKenna put Geri in a trance on the couch and said repeatedly: "You can sing, you can sing, you can sing." Meanwhile Geri has splashed out £4,500 on a set of sexy sketches featuring naked women. She spotted them in a gallery in Camden Town, North London.

"Geri Makes it to Number 1"
Geri Halliwell has made it to number one with the second single to be lifted from her 'Shizophonic' solo album, 'Mi Chico Latino'. It is Geri's debut at the top of the charts as a solo artist and will silence critics who said she lacked musical ability.

Following on from Ricky Martin's 'Livin' La Vida Loca', Geri has continued the trend for Latin inspired music topping the charts. This trend could continue next week with both Shaft's 'Mucho Mambo' and Louie Bega's 'Mambo No. 5' being tipped for top five placements.

DJ Jurgen with Alice DJ comes in at number two with the dance smash 'Better Off Alone'.
"Geri "Chuffed" as she hits #1"
Geri Halliwell has returned to the giddy heights she frequently reached with the Spice Girls by scoring her first solo No 1.

The 27-year-old knocked Irish boy band Westlife from the top after outselling them by two to one during the week.

Her single Mi Chico Latino went one better than her debut single Look At Me, which was held off the top of the charts by Boyzone earlier this year.

Halliwell's album Schizophonic was also only able to peak at No 2, again unable to outsell Boyzone who topped the charts with their greatest hits collection.

The singer was ecstatic on hearing the news of her success as she landed at Heathrow airport after a break at George Michael's villa in St Tropez.

"I am chuffed to bits and can't express how excited I am," she said. "I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me and am thrilled that people like my music."

Geri headed straight for home where she planned to celebrate her first solo No 1 hit with her family.

Many critics had written the singer off, suggesting she would struggle to chart as highly with any subsequent releases. But strong sales for her latin tinged tune this week have proved them wrong.

Chart expert Jason Legg, of the HMV record shop chain, said: "I think it's a case of perfect timing for Geri with this record because Britain is going Latino crazy at the moment.

"We've had Ricky Martin in the charts and there has been lots of airplay for Enrique Iglesias and Lou Bega. It's exactly the right time for her to put out a song like that."

"'Mi Chico Latino' memorabilia"
A printing error on Woolworth's copies of Geri Halliwell's new single 'Mi Chico Latino' prompted stories that the CD would be denied a high chart placing.

A spokesman for Geri scoffed at the idea. "Only 5% of Woolworth's stocks of the single were incorrectly labelled. No other shops got any," he said. "In fact, anyone who bought the wrongly printed CD didn't get such a bad deal, it will probably be worth quite a lot in the future as a collector's item. We are expecting the single to go Top 5 so we're happy."

EMI released the single yesterday (August 16) in two formats, CD1 and CD2, which includes dance remixes. Fans who bought CD2 discovered CD1 printed on the disc and returned the record. They actually had the right CD, it was just wrongly labelled. Geri's spokesman said the blunder hasn't had that much effect on sales as a new shipment is being delivered by the end of today. Her record label EMI is investigating the blunder.

It's an unfortunate mix up for Geri as she also had problems with her last single 'Look At Me' when she was kept off the number one spot by Boyzone's 'You Needed Me', ironically because Boyzone fans were tempted to buy two separate CDs, the second including various different songs and remixes. It was this fact that prompted the CD2 remixes of 'Mi Chico Latino'.
"Geri Defends Her Album"
Still no love lost between Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell after Melanie slated her debut album "Schizophonic" in a magazine interview, saying her songs were cotton wool.

Geri says she's not having any of that: "I'm really proud of my album, you know I think it's really good. There's ten tracks on there that I think all stand alone. They have something to say to make you smile or to touch you. You know when you're driving the car and you want something to keep you company you know to move you in some way. Something for your heart, your mind, your feet. I just wanna make sure that everybody hears it and feels it and that's the job, the mission I'm on at the moment. I just want everyone to love it, I really do."
"Geri 'Mary Poppins' Halliwell"
Geri Halliwell is set to star in a production of "Mary Poppins" to be filmed in New Zealand, a report here said Wednesday.

She was to take a lead role in "A Spoon Full of Sugar," a made for television remake of "Mary Poppins," the Dominion newspaper said. British company Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment had plans for up to 16 episodes with filming to begin next March, the daily said.

Production head Geoff Husson was quoted as saying they were negotiating with Geri to play the high-flying granddaughter of nanny Mary Poppins, made famous in the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews.

"Geri's G.A.Y. Song's the Ultimate Accolade"

Geri Halliwell has delighted bosses at a leading London nightclub with her latest song. Geri's new song G.A.Y on the b-side of her latest single "Mi Chico Latino" is a tribute to the nightclub where she made her live solo debut last month. The club, which was launched four years ago, was also the venue chosen by the Spice Girls for their first performance. G.A.Y promoter Jermy Joseph says, "It's the ultimate compliment. Geri told us she'd written a song about the club and we were all terribly disappointed when it didn't appear on her album, but now it's out on her new single, and everyone here loves it. We had the exclusive first play, everybody was cheering and on the dance floor."

"Who's Sending Geri Flowers ?"

George Clooney is the answer. Since Celine Balitran moved out of George's tinseltown home, he seems desperate for a date. So, when he heard Geri was in LA recently he sent her a big bunch of flowers.

"Geri @ Virgin Megastore Testimonial"

I arrived at The Virgin megastore at 5:00 PM. I waited and waited then after two hours was the first sign of Geri She drove by slowly taping the line, it was too cool! Anyway, about another 2 hours passed and the line began to move rapidly, within about 10 minutes I was inside and only feet away! My sister went first then it was my turn! Geri was sitting on a stool, I walked up to her and handed her my CD and I looked at the ground to calm my nerves and when I looked back up I must have had some wierd look on my face because she asked "Are you OK?" Then I started to cry histracially, then she got off her stool gave me a big huge and held me, she kept going shhh, it's OK, and I was so freaked out I pulled away from her after about 30 seconds and she said ' Are you gonna be OK'? Then a sqeaked out a yes and a thank you and ran out the door. I went outside and cried. By : sportyspice127@yahoo.com

"Geri on Latin - Tingled Singles"

Hit records from such Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez have helped spawn a crossover boom for Latino music in America, as Lopez currently has a number one single with "If You Had My Love," while Martin has sold almost 2.5 million copies of his self-titled album in six weeks.
Now former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell plans to get into the fray with a her own song, "Mi Chico Latino," the follow-up to her first solo single, "Look at Me." Some might think that the release of Geri's new single is just an attempt to jump on board the Latin music bandwagon, but Halliwell says that her decision to push "Mi Chico Latino" actually came long before Lopez and Martin's records began their chart domination.
"My second single, and I've decided on it, is 'Mi Chico Latino,'" Geri said. "And that's tapping into my Latin roots, 'cause my mother, she's Spanish, and 'cause I always just write songs that I feel. I know everyone says that there's this big Latin wave going on, but I wrote this single way before [any of that]. As soon as I wrote this song, I thought, you know, this is my summer single, regardless of what's in fashion and what's not."

Also, Geri's ready for a change and didn't mind coming second.
She claims she's not disappointed her debut album failed to live up to her Spice Girl successes by missing out on the number one spot. Schizophonic spent a week at number two in the UK before beginning to fall, but Geri told Radio 1's The Net it she didn't mind because changing and growing as a person was more important to her.

"CDnow Attacks Geri"

Thanks to rascal@intermediatn.net for sending this in. Everybody that even gets a little upset, please e-mail CDnow, and voice you opinion. In the subject line put "Please Forward this Message to Joseph Patel".
The music industry is too cruel. They wouldn't know music that's warm, meaningful, good rhythmed, and well written as Schizophonic's songs if it their lives depended on it. It really bites to have a reviewer that holds the position of controlling of what people think of a CD and then the person not buying the CD based on someone's opinion.
If it is the beat and flow of the song that is not inviting to a reviewer, then the next obvious thing to do is to read the lyrics instead of just listening to the song. They really mean something. Lines that stick in my mind are Let Me Love You's "at the end of the day there is nothing left to say but I love you," Goodnight Kiss's "but starting tonight if you don't treat me right then it's just gonna end as a good night kiss," Someone's Watching Over Me's "I was always there too late so fate became my father," Mi Chico Latino's "take my chances and run with destiny," and other lines that have deep meaning.
I strongly suggest all Geri fans who read this message write to the below e-mail address and give Joesph Patel what's coming to him. Give him hell !

Here is the nasty review:
By: Joseph Patel
Say this about Geri Halliwell, the erstwhile Ginger Spice: At least the 36-, um, 26-year-old singer looks good. Dearly departed from the Spice Girls juggernaut, Halliwell is trying to make her own way as a more refined pop presence. She'll need all the help she can get.
"Look at Me," her first single, is a '60s-era, spy-film redux with more glossy sheen than your average Mercedes commercial. It's against such stylized backing tracks -- and there are plenty on Schizophonic -- that Halliwell's limitations as a real singer become vivid. There are no other lukewarm voices to hide behind (and how's that for irony), only her own marginal, amazingly flat voice. Clearly, Shirley Bassey she's not.
Halliwell runs through a spectrum of pop flavors (never a good sign), from see-through optimism ("Lift Me Up") to a disco-diva tribute ("Bag It Up") to a bit of Indian psychedelia ("Let Me Love You"). In a way, it sounds like Halliwell is trying to reinvent herself as a less sexual Madonna, seemingly confirmed when she dabbles with a Latin-flavored dance number, "Mi Chico Latino." Consider it her "La Isla Bonita." At one point, Halliwell urges listeners not to take life too seriously. Nor should you with this album, which is almost so bad it's campy fun. Almost.

"Geri Not to Attend The Wedding"

One person who will not be at the £500,000 wedding of Victoria Adams and David Beckham this weekend is Geri Halliwell. It is not clear whether she was invited, she said not, later Victoria said she was, but Ginger Spice claims she is too busy playing Party In The Park in London to attend the Dublin wedding. Victoria, the peacemaker of the group, is the only one who met Geri after she walked out on the band last spring.

"Geri's Opinion"

"Geri's Schizophonic Opinion" Source: http://www.sonictet.com/guide "I wanted it to be a very honest album, a blueprint of me. The manifesto, the brief I gave to the other writers I work with was that if I was to die at the end of this album, I wanted to know I'd taken each song to the max. There were no half-measures, it was a real reflection of my personality. It's an emotional rollercoaster, a hormonal mood-swing. I poured everything into it, it was almost like therapy for me."

"Mi Chico Latino Mixup"

Geri Halliwell faces a humiliating legal row about the origins of her new single. She says she wrote her second solo release "Mi Chico Latino" as a return to her Spanish roots. The track, which also appears on Geri's "Schizophonic" album, sounds like a near carbon copy of an equally catch number sung by a little-known Israeli singer. The singer, named Alabina, age 29, scored a number one hit throughout the Middle East when she released Alabina (De La Noche A La Manana) last year. Geri, who performed Mi Chico Latino in front of 100,000 fans at last week's Party In The Park gig, says: "The song is inspired by my Spanish roots." She maintains that the flamenco guitars and uplifting melody reflected her mother's background. Yesterday a spokesman for Alabina's French record label Atal confirmed that they were "anxiously contacting" Geri's record label about the obvious similarities. He said: "We have already consulted lawyers on this matter." A spokeswoman for Geri brushed off the amazing similarity. She said: "The track WAS written by her."
