Little Hotaru has a sad, and confusing, past. Her father, Proffesor Tomoe, worked in a lab. On one fatal day, both Hotaru and her mother were killed in a horrible labratory accident. The proffesor was devastated, but Pharoah 90 (the big bad villain in the S series, the equivalent of Queen Beryl) told him if he gave up his soul, he'd bring Hotaru back to life. Proffesor Tomoe agreed, and an evil being incarnated in his body. Hotaru was brought back to life, but the evil Mistress 9 incarnated in her body. All through out her life Mistress 9 would periodically take control of Hotaru's body and hurt people for no reason, so Hotaru was looked upon with fear. She was a very sad, miserable girl.
Once the Witches 5 retrieved enough Pure Heart Crystals, Mistress 9 was fully awakened, causing Hotaru to age rapidly, much like Rini did when she became Wicked Lady. Mistress 9 was the Sovereign (Messiah) of Silence, which meant she had the power to destroy the world using the Purity Chalice (Holy Grail). She was to use the Chalice to create a portal for Pharoah 90 to enter the world and destroy it.
Just before Mistress 9 opened the portal for Pharoah 90, the good Hotaru trapped inside the body used her own powers of love and friendship to cast Mistress 9 from her body. After that, Hotaru became the Sovereign of Good, Sailor Saturn. After a brief talk with Sailor Moon, she went and destroyed Pharoah 90 once and for all.
After that, Hotaru turned into a little baby, even younger than she started out as. The baby's power charged Uranus, Neptune and Pluto and they became Super Sailors. Hotaru and her father were given another chance at having a happy life together. Not much after that, Hotaru aged rapidly once again to her original age, around 11 or 12.
Hotaru is very fragile, she has the healing touch. Literally. She touches wounds and they get all better. It works for sicknesses, too. This specail power drains all her enerqy, so she is very frail. In battle, though, she is vitually indestructable. Her attacks are simple, with very few movements, but are extremely powerful and effective. She has a really cool weapon thingy called the Silence Glaive, and she uses it to attack.
Hotaru is best friends with Rini, because they are about the same age. Rini often sticks up for poor Hotaru when the bullies pick on her for her lack of strength. The 2 are inseperable friends, always there for each other.
Sailor Saturn wasn't around durring the Silver Millenium, her powers are so great nobody wanted to awaken them until they absolutly had to. She has the power of Total Destruction; in other words, she could destroy the whole world if she really wanted to.

There is a VERY close up on Saturn's face, and as the 'camera' backs away Saturn slowly turns around, a purple haze fogs up the screen. This attaack makes a protective barrier to sheild her and the other scouts from enemy fire. | ||
