GOD AND RELIGION

When God created this universe he set about creating a balance in the objects beings and things that He has put into the Universe. God also bestowed man with powers to acquire knowledge and use it in appreciating the creation of God and simultaneously achieve the goal of his life. Later, learned souls divided men into different castes to define the duties of each caste and work can be efficiently carried out. But least did they think that this division of human race into 4 different castes would multiply into 1000 of sub classes and putting distance between men. The men cease to see themselves as one form of God and show feelings of superiority of class. Ultimately the purpose for which the Caste system and Religion is created is lost. Man, the most intelligent being living on the earth and the pride of the creator - God, used his knowledge out of selfishness to create havoc, chaos and cause imbalance in the universe.

The cause for this selfishness is EGO, though this word is short with just 3 letters in it, it has the power to make or break a relation, man or for that matter Nation. Even though we are educated and religious and pious in our thoughts, when we engage in a talk about caste and religion, we at once end up in blood thirst arguments. When we are hurt we retaliate with equal fervor without thinking about the consequences of our actions. We are blinded with fury. It is because of the EGO that is hurt. World would be a better place without this EGO. We would not have had riots, death, revenge, and vengeance if EGO were not there.

Religion is nothing but thoughts of Good deeds interpreted for the understanding of Common man. Just as Caste is for dividing the functions in the community. Religion is a guide, man always had to have a path to follow, and other wise would be lost in the desert of worldly existence if he did not know where he was going. God wanted man to hold on to the religion, which would enable him to follow and work towards deliverance and peace for him and his fellow beings. But unfortunately the EGO in man has made him blind to the actual philosophy and teaching of oneness and coexistence with love among other beings and man started interpreting religion and manipulating it to suit his convenience and achieve his personal gains.

The final result of such selfishness is that we are handed down with set of thumb rules in the name of religion and caste that makes us look at our neighbor and co worker with hatred and ill feeling which is due to fear - fear of being put down, fear of not living up to the expectations, fear of losing the game of life, fear of being left alone in life. This is because we always like to feel good about ourselves irrespective of what others might feel or react to our behaviour. We are self centered, thinking of only our needs and being blind to the world we live in. Ultimately we are now left adrift in a world filled with hatred misinterpreted religious values and ill feeling. Is this what our God taught us? Is this what is said in 10 Commandments? Is that what Prophet Mohamed has said? The basic concept of all religions is "love all serve all". When you love your neighbor as you love your children, brother or sister, then there would be no question of one taking offence to what they said in the heat of the anger.

Will god like temples, mosques and churches be built on the dead bodies of the children that he has so loving created and put on the earth to propagate the word of love. Will there be love and god living in such religious places? Time and again saints and prophets have been born on earth with the sole purpose of spreading the word of love and bring harmony in our community. Shirdi Sai BABA, Kabir, Mohammed they all have said that Ram and Rahim are

One and the same, people call god with different names, but ultimately the final destination of all the human beings is to the holy feet of God - which is also the place of origin of man.

Let us take up the service of spreading love, think of the person you can’t stand and would be better off without their company and even in your worst nightmares would not like to spend time in their company. So let us start spreading love by loving that person, it would be hard initially but remember the pain that we suffer they suffer too, see BABA in them, Let us appeal to BABA in their hearts, who would definitely respond to your love and will love us in return. The love that you get will be multiplied and will extend outward and spread to people in the community surrounding you. LOVE IS CONTAGIOUS. One need not fast, observe strict religious practices to please god. Just loving and helping people in need and involving in good actions is enough to please god. God will reward such actions with happiness, there is no place for EGO in such houses when there is love, as we see every one as our own so the question of getting hurt and ill feeling does not arise.

When I am at work and forget to get my lunch I walk across to the shops to buy French fries, but I cant eat it as I think of my sons who love to eat fries 3 times a day. I know that it is not good for them, but when I eat out my thought goes to them. On my way home I pick up another packet of fries and take it to them and the joy I see on their faces fills my heart with satisfaction and happiness. This is unselfish thought that a mother has towards her children. So why not have the same feeling towards the neighbor, not in terms of buying things but giving them help in some form. How many of us feel happy when our good work is recognised and people bestow blessings on us. We do not ask which religion they are from or what their caste is? We are happy that somebody thought about us and showered blessings on us. Let us see what BABA said in this respect:

"Unless there is some relationship or connection, nobody goes anywhere. If any men or creatures come to you, do not discourteously drive them away, but receive them well and treat them, with due respect. Shri Hari (God) will be certainly pleased, if you give water to the thirsty, bread to the hungry, clothes to the naked, and your verandah to strangers for sitting and resting. If anybody wants any money from you, and you are not inclined to give, do not give, but do not bark at him, like a dog. Let anybody speak hundreds of things against you, do not resent by giving any bitter reply. If you always tolerate such things, you will certainly be happy. Let the world go topsy-turvy, you remain where you are. Standing or staying in your own place looks on calmly at the show of all things passing before you. Demolish the wall of difference that separates you from Me; and then the road for our meeting will be clear and open. The sense of differentiation, as I and thou, is the barrier that keeps away the disciple from his Master, and unless that is destroyed the state of union or atonement is not possible, "Allah Malik" i.e. God is the sole Proprietor, nobody else is our Protector. His method of work is extra-ordinary, invaluable, and inscrutable. His will will be done and He will show us the way, and satisfy our heart's desires. It is on account of Rinanubandh (former relationship) that we have come together, let us love and serve each

other and be happy. He, who attain the supreme goal of life, is immortal and

happy; all others merely exist, i.e., live so long as they breathe".(chapter 18/19 Satcharita).

I take this opportunity and ask you all to pray for those poor souls who have lost their lives in the communal riots and are victims of somebody’s hatred and ungodly act. May BABA give peace to the souls and strength to the families and put an end to such heinous acts conducted in the name of Religion.
