MasterShipCaptain Chandra

Her history begins with that of her parents. Ralasia was but 15 turns (years) when the trading caravan that she was a part of visited Tillek Hold for a gather. At the said gather, Ralasia became absolutely smitten with a SeaCraft Journeyman by the name of Chadoro, nearly 10 turns her senior. Ralasia instantly quit the caravan life and joined the Seacraft. After a pair of turns, Chadoro himself became smitten with Ralasia, and love blossomed. Yet, the unbelievable happened, Ralasia was picked up oh High Reaches Search and managed to Impress the dragonet of green Torinth. After a time apart, Ralasia would pull watchrider duty at Tillek now and again, giving her time with Chadoro. They had three children: Chadral, Chandra, and Calasia. Eventually, Ralasia became more involved with weyr life and the pair drifted apart. Ralasia soon fell in love with a weyr herder who monitors the feeding herd for the dragons, Tregran. These two also had children: Tregral and Terasia.

At 7 turns, Chandra was fosterlinged to the residents at Tillek Hold, bringing her closer to her seacrafting father, now a Masterfisher. There she learned the ways of the sea. But her mother was quite insistant that Chandra return to the weyr and possibly even stand on the sands for the next clutch. Alas, Chani would have nothing of that, or her own father's desires to try to ease her into the Seacraft. So, she left. Hoping to set up a new life in Southern, she took a role as a deckhand for passage on a cargo ship, but a storm blew the ship to Ista instead and Chani thought that the island was as good a place as any. Not long after she joined the Seacraft... and the rest is history.

While in Ista, young Chandra grew up and progressed until she became a Master, a MasterShipCapain, that is. With her very own ship, Wayward Gold, she henseforth sailed the seas of Pern and taught apprentices and journeymen. Although, with a change in leadership at the main Seacraft Hall near Tillek. She and much of the Istan Seacrafters were reassigned to the Master Sea Hold.

Upon a trip from Ista, carrying Healers, to Tillek, the Wayward Gold unfortunaly caught fire by pure accident and then impaled herself upon some rocks at Tillek's Head. The ship sunk and was a smoldering ruin, but all who were aboard survived the wreck. The DragonWing is Chandra's 'educated' ship, with sleek lines, refinement, and elegance, while the Gold was a wallowing cargoship born of extravagence.

At the age of 30 turns, Chandra got handfasted to a Tillek Hold Fisherman by the name of Darl. It was rather sudden considering the fact that for turns upon turns the pair would often be seen arguing over one point or another in the local pub at MSH. One drunken night, they decided to agree on something for once, and that would be to get handfasted on the spot. And they did. Not long after, Chandra became pregnant. Alas, it was not ment to be. Darl, during yet another drunken shore-side revel, let Chandra in on a little secret: he was already handfasted to another, in a far-off port nearly 20 turns back and had a couple of kids. Outraged, the Seacraft Master kicked his rear out of her life for good, throwing the handfasting band he gave her to the ground and declaring that she is a single woman once more.

At 31 1/2, Chandra gave brith to her first born and daughter, Charlie, named for both mother and father. Naturally, Darl was nowhere in existance and Chandra was just fine with that.

A little over four turns after the Istan Seacrafters were called to the Master Sea Hall, CraftMaster Sanderson was once more telling those Istans that he had no more need of them and was quickly banishing them back to Ista. And this is now where Chandra has been demoted from MasterShipCaptain and turned into the Seacraft's CraftHead at the Ista Sea Hall.
