Logfile from Tomite.

Ferraro's

Wood paneling covers all the walls of the cafe, offering a warm atmosphere to the rather large lower area. In the back, there is a set of stairs that leads the second level. To the right are the glassed in cases where the fresh pastries are dispayed for one's perusal. Chocolate eclairs, tiny fruit tarts covered with strawberries, kiwi and melon, tirimasu, Bavarian cream-filled cakes, and chocolate chip canollis, to name a few of the sweet confections offered by this pastry shop. Marble tops and metallic legs are the flavor of tables offered in this shop, with quaint chairs to match. Four to a table.

Idle chatter is subdued here, as if speaking loud would be an affront to the patrons within. But the overall spirit is convivial, and the lighting bright. It's a nice place for a quiet talk and a good cup of cappuccino.

Miaka, Yui, Suzuno, Takiko, Enshou, and Ashitare are here.

Obvious exits:

Damnit! The psychic link with Dylan is definitely not working - gah, what's the use of having a telepathic seishi if he won't answer his calls?! Rainey quits the futile exercise, a /tad/ more concerned about thefreakyflameanimalsrightatherheels! Where /are/ her seishi?! Look, there's one - but it's not her's! "AUN!" Yes, she recognizes the Seiryuu chibi. "AUN! NO! Come back!" And, being Rainey, you /know/ she's going to think of herself last, or not at all, and the girl actually drops Takiko and tries to go after the shapeshifter. They're not roasting chibis either on her watch!

Yui whips her head around at the familiar roar.  "Ashitare!" she yells, without breaking stride.  "Get the oni, Aun!"  So who needs Nakago to make brilliant plans?  She has to trust her seishi, or they're all toast, and she's not about to let Taka blame her for a crispy wife.  Another tug of her arm is intended to practically throw Miaka through the door to the kitchen, hopefully fast enough to avoid the majority of the flames.  No worries, she's following toot-sweet.

Damian is rather astonished at the insanity that ensues from the simple addition of a little flame into the scene. With all the folks running around and screaming, not to mention pretending to do the same, it's not hard to overlook the man amongst them, dressed more or less as an ordinary sort of office worker or desk jockey. He's watching the elementals running around like he can tell they're not just wild licks of flames coming out of walls and spreading across the floor. The appearance of a boy trying to actually chase his elementals though, comes as a surprise. "Hey kid! Get outta here!" he says, lingering in the burning cafe. "Don't you know when to get out of a burning building? Kids these days, good grief!"

Aun isn't about to let any mikos get toasted. He can't find the oni, which frustrates him, but the child begins growing, with a roar of challenge-- Now THIS should be the Ashitare Miaka remembers.  He says something in French.  He's big, he's bad, he's.. Trying to block the flames chasing after the mikos, like some nutso blue-glowing berzerker.  When he finds that oni, you'd better believe there'll be a reckoning, but the miko collective's safety comes first.  So much for warning the boy!

"Oh no you don't!" Ack. Darn it, Rainey, she didn't come back for the girl just to run in for a suicide mission. And before the French girl can get more than two steps, her wrist is captured, and Ashleigh does probably the best thing she can in this instance. She.... gives her to the crowd that is trying to get out. "Sorry... Suzuno." She's not about to let the girl dive head first into this mess. Hopefully the stampeding crowd won't hurt her, but instead, do as she was intending to do in the first place.... drag her out of her. That done, she does wince as the doorway looks a little... blocked afterwards. She doesn't get too much of a chance to see; those flames are close, and closer yet now that they've devoured her coat. Running to one side, she takes in her options, and attempts to find a path to another exit. At least someone got a seishi got here, somehow?

Chase typically enjoys the warm-fuzzies that he gets around the other Genbu. In fact, it is really rather pleasant, but when those warm-fuzzies begin to feel a little harried, that's when you really need to wonder. And so, there he is at his usual lope, darting through the door to the establishment despite the crowd to get out.. The looks he got coming here, some bow in his hand, arrows strapped to his back... And then there is fire? Great. *sarcasm* "Ash?!" he bellows, gaze scanning. And then the mutter, "Looks like the miko has been having a little excitement."

Craig comes into the area from elsewhere.

Tamahome walks in from the street.

Although she is being tugged out the cafe, Miaka's feet are still on fire! "Itai itai itai!" Miaka manages for a split second to yank her wrist out of Yui's grasp... but only to try to beat out the flames on her ankles. She's going to have to get new khaki's now. -.-; Just when she is able to smother most of the flames out, leaving wide swaths of soot across her hands and arms, she looks back up. And sees Ashitare. As in, big, bad, killed Nuriko, Ashitare! Despite the fact that he is a good guy now, old feelings die hard, and the moment she sees the werewolf, Miaka shrieks and tries to flee after Yui again. Only.... she was putting the fire out of one pant leg, and balanced a bit precariously at that... So when she tries to flee, she ends up tipping over to the side. With a shriek of dismay, she flails her arms, albeit too late, and hits her head against one of the cafe tables. Once again, the clumsy miko has established her dominance in this particular action and without delay, the Suzaku no Miko is knocked unconscious!

The cafe is nearly toast by now, with flames climbing just about every wall. The majority of the patrons and employees have managed to flee, save for a few who apparently are either on fire, or still running around like chickens without heads. (Suzaku!) Damian is finding it harder not to stick out by hanging around the chaos, pondering letting the place just burn now that the miko convention literally up in flames. His elementals though, are having a ball. Some are chasing still, others are tearing the place apart and breaking things.

Aun doesn't need any more prompting.. He HATES fire and would love to be out there. Still, how strange and wrong is it for him to be picking up Suzaku no miko and trying to rescue her?  Yeah, talk about something weird.  "Aun get! We leave now!" He hollers, wishing nothing more than to be at home with a good raw steak and some scritchies.  Ah, werewolves.  Can't live with them, can't let them decapitate your friends.

"MIIIIAAAKKAAAA!!"   He slams his way out of the cab, to find a restaurant burning.   Then he charges inside, flinging the door open.   Tamahome has arrived.   "Miaka!"   Comes his voice, through the smoke.   "Miaka!   Where are you?!"   Since he did suddenly stop feeling her chi.

Craig peers in hesitantly through the flames, drawn to the yelps within in passing, perhaps.  As it is, he simply lingers near the outside of the burning shop, close enough that the heat is making him sweat, but far enough away that there's no risk of him catching on fire himself.  The last thing he needs is a singed pair of trousers, after all.  Tamahome merely gets a blank look as he charges into the building past him, leaving Craig to slip a hand in his pocket, his fingers wrapping uncertainly around the cell phone within.

Ashleigh was going to go further inside, considering that it sounds like people are still inside. However, there is a familiar voice that not only is heard by the ear but in her head, something that is reassuring about the presence that has made its way inside. Upon seeing that presence is a familiar archer.... well, he'd complained about not getting tackled before, if only to himself; he gets tackled now, because the girl does recognize that that Tomite /is/ safety. And well, this is a mess. "I think Miaka and Yui are still in there......" And there busts in Tamahome. "...... Does he always do that?" Wait until she gets an earful of the 'Miaka...' 'Tamahome...' routine. There's a good thing about being a miko of the God of Strategy. Sometimes it's just better to shut up and kiss. "I think a Yin is here, too...." Considering who's left... and unburned.... could be Craig, could be Damian.... could be a couple of others still running around. Who knows.

Chase smirks as he eyes the elementals. "Fire, eh..." He looks about to continue right on further into a burning building, only to be attacked by the enemy! No, its actually Ash. "Stay close," he mutters, flickering her a quick glance to make she she is only singed and nothing else is amiss. "A Yin... its about time." He has been wanting to find another Yin to ass-kick for awhile now. Arrow is knocked to the bow, and it is barely drawn to his ear before released, and given that little extra oompf to instead of just one arrow, create a good dozen made of ice that rain down upon the little fiery things. Mikos better watch out.

Aun looks excited upon recognizing the voice of one of his former enemies. "Ah! Her seishi here. We give!" He exclaims, and without further ado, the Seiryuu seishi turns on a heel, unconcious Suzaku no miko in hand, and swings her back.. Then literally pitches the unconcious woman, sending her sailing through the air right at her seishi.  Well, maybe he's big and smashy, but there's just some things a werewolf who was raised in the wild doesn't understand about appropriate behavior.  He figures Miaka's Tamahome's miko, so it's best to of course turn her over, even if it means flinging her through a burning restertaunt. Tail wagging, he looks at his miko hopefully, seeking approval. "Good, we go now?"  It's no wonder Nakago beat him up.  Look, mikos can fly too!

Yui looks flabbergasted for a few moments, staring blankly at Ashitare.  "Ooi.."  Ack! Hot hot hot!  "Yes! Good! We go!"  Whatever approval he wants, she's willing to give, as long as they can /go/.  "Taka!" she hollers. "We're okay. Get Miaka out!"  Well. She can't let him be heroic and come charging back into the blaze to find people who snuck out the back, can she?  Slapping at the flames licking at her blouse, she hastens out the door and into the kitchen.  "C'mon!" she urges her fuzzy seishi. Yay, it's a quick dash to the wide open rear doors, where the staff escaped.

Taka blinks.   You know, he really needs to stop hoping Suzaku will help him with things if this is how the phoenix god delivers.   "Miaka!"   he calls again, leaping into the air, catching the Suzaku no Miko neatly in his arms, before landing again.   "MIaka, wake up!"   Then his head snaps up.  "Yui?   Yui, where are you?"   But he can't go any farther in, and it is, in fact, a mercy that Miaka was flung through relatively unharmed.   And Yui said she was ok, so he cradles the miko tightly to his chest, and turns for the door, dashing outside the restaurant quickly.  "Miaka, wake up!"    Pretty useless endeavor, true, but he just found her again.

Craig turns the phone over in his pocket, contemplating whether or not to attempt to call somebody.  As far as he can tell, the voices inside the burning building aren't exactly calling for help.  In fact, the muttered phrase: "Crazy New Yorkers." sums up the situation pretty well from his vantage point.  Eyeing the two recently emerged people, he pulls his phone out of his pocket, flipping it open and assuming a tone that he hopes is helpful.  "Er...Want me to call an ambulance, or something?"

Damian finds the arrival of several actual seishi to be a good sign that he should get his butt out of here. The elementals make a sudden surge and attack various people, himself included. The largest of them in fact goes right at Damian and makes it appear that the man is utterly consumed when in fact the thing just picks him up and vanishes, making the oni disappear too. After that the elementals continue to play, though less vigorously, much of the flame now appearing normal though still spreading.

Oi! Flying miko alert! "Remind me to never go unconscious, Chase. It looks like it's bad for my health." Does she leave? Heck no... Chase is here. She's relatively safe, which is something she can't say for Miaka until she's caught by Tamahome. "..... Shi... am.... it looks like nearly everyone's gotten out now." And it certainly looks like the ice is helping a little. However a lot of damage was done from the get go, and soon enough, she's tugging at Chase's shirt. "Maybe we should get out of here too.... looks like he fled."

Taka shakes his head.  "No, thanks.  She'll be fine once I get her home and in bed."  He cradles the unconscious Miko close.  "Thank you for the offer.   And there may yet be people inside who do need an ambulance.  I don't know."   He does set off though, hailing a taxi to get them out of there.

Okay, tossing mikos, werewolves, fire elementals. Now /this/ is fun. And it shows as Chase's grin turns almost puckish as the sight. He just catches sight of the fire engulfing one man, gaze remaining steadily upon him until he is fully engulfed and he can see no more. Mental note is quickly made. "I don't think nothing more can be done here. The sob left... this place is toast." He shoulders the bow, reaches over with one hand as if to curl fingers in Ash's shirt, and then with the other hand reaches up to create a fairly thick sheen of ice along the ceiling that'll more than likely melt rather quickly and from there drench the flames. "Out." And without further ado, Ash is being tugged away.

Craig blinks at the fire's sudden outburst, but past the odd look he casts at the building, he doesn't seem to react, writing it off as a backdraft...Or something like that.  Looking back to Taka, his brows knitted at the unconscious woman in his arms, he nods once.  "No problem.  I'll go ahead and call, just to be safe." And with that, he turns his back to the scene, pressing his phone against his ear and trudging off to carry on with his own business.

Craig leaves the pastry shop.

So much for being able to see if everyone's alright. She's tugged out by Chase without such much as a byleave, and musing, "Thanks.... you really came through, you know." He'll get his hugs, once they're outside and the ice is gone. Ashleigh has no idea how to explain her missing coat, though. At least she didn't have all her stuff in it... that, would be bad.

Chase just keeps on dragging Ash away from the shop, making sure they are a good distance away before he is turning about to look her over. "Did you get hurt any? The others would kill me if you so much as got a bruise." Yes, besides looking her over he is prodding at her, examining her hands, face, neck, etc... "Where is your coat?" Nattering hen. Bow and quiver is dropped to the sidewalk as he shrugs out of his own, and further movements to settle her in it. "Are you truly okay?" There is true concern in those green-irised eyes of his, searching over her features.

Ashleigh keeps getting tugged, even as the fire trucks begin to come in and do their job; oddly, the fire doesn't look quite as bright as it did when they were first leaving. Hrm. Odd. But nothing to worry about now. "No, I'm fine.... Chase... really...." There's almost a slight embarrassment to her voice, somewhat dusty features now tinged with pink, a pink that brightens on the mention of her coat. "Uhm.... it got toasted." Just look at her glancing down to her boots now. She misses getting Chase's coat in the bargain, though, and it brings Ashleigh to glance up at the archer in surprise. "Yeah..... I'm so glad you made it." She really is, if there is any indication in a sudden hug, not really caring if that coat slips off her shoulders in the meantime or not. She'll just... stay here a while.

"Are you sure? I can take you to the hospital. I don't think that smoke did you any good. Or one of the healers... I think one of the Byakko could help you, just in case," Chase continues his badgering and babbling, well, that is until he is abruptly hugged. Awwwww, it was about time. He is blinking for a long moment in astonishment, but it is in the next breath that the teenager is curling his arms tightly around his miko, eyes closing as he simply basks in the contact.

It's all the babbling that did it, really. It made her realize that not only is he worried about her, but maybe perhaps she's been keeping a bit too much of her welfare and general doings to herself. And maybe it was time to change that. But also, the adrenaline of the fire's events are dying down, and she just needs... a moment. Somewhere safe... somewhere comforting. And she's found it. "I hope Rainey's okay. I tossed her out the building when it started to get bad." She had to. She doesn't want Rainey being hurt... certainly not on her account. "Maybe... we should go home, though?" She doesn't move from that hug yet, instead peeking up at Chase through her bangs.

"Just give me a moment more," Chase mutters, not at all loosening his hold of Ash. "Aniki is awful jealous, and I might not get the chance to do this again." There is a strength to his voice, despite the fact that his mind is running the gantlet of emotions. He tries his level best to resolve those old feelings, brought back up by just her contact and the fact that he has been trying so very, very hard to keep them away for so long for the sake of Brice. With an almost reluctant sigh, he pulls away, turning his eyes away from her, "I'll take you back to your place, sure."

Ashleigh doesn't fight it, to be honest. Maybe they're both working through those emotions now, quite a bit that were not only unrequited, but what was done after the fact. Things she did, she said, and things she should have done, perhaps. "Yeah... he'll kill me if I don't come home tonight." .... Was she planning otherwise? Who knows. She doesn't say it, though, even as when Chase finally pulls away, her expression is somewhat rueful. She knows Brice.... he'll worry his head off if she doesn't come home. But..... "Yeah... I should. But.. hey. What are you doing after class tomorrow?" Just because someone's jealous, doesn't mean they can't hang out. "There's an arcade.... XS.... it's got laser tag." And there's a need to get out some aggression after this.

Chase bends back down to pick up his coat and resituate it upon her shoulders, moving to shoulder the quiver and bow once more. He'd do anything for Brice, anything. If the man asked him to lay down his life for him, Chase would do it before the request could even be finished. And so, despite everything, he will shove those feelings deep down and leave them there, and not try to move in on Brice's claimed girl. Head lifts, and he gives Ash his typical crooked smile, "Sounds like a blast. I'm game... and while I'm taking you home, you can tell me /everything/ that happened in there, that way we can figure out a good story to tell aniki that won't have him freaking out." He flashes her a wink, and then leads Ash off.
