Logfile from K'rill.

Baths (#5705J)

Polished tiles glow underneath, through the humid steam that is the inevitable accompaniment to the baths; in a colorful mosaic they spread their graceful pictures, the disarray and languor of bodies nude: dragon, human, 'lizard. The pool seduces long and broad in the center of the antechamber, about which the walkway crowns its way, an outer ring of relative dryness circled yet again by a series of stout wooden benches and hooks for cast-off clothing. Stacks of soft white towels pile loosely in large baskets, inviting indulgence and envelopment in fluffy clouds of warmth.

The mosaics stream along tiles that dive into the central pool, coalescing into patterns along an underwater bench which circumscribes the bath before fading into blue-green waves and swirls that show faintly through the deepest waters. Time is nonexistant here, the cares of the world outside slip away in weightless luxury. Pots of herbs placed at strategic intervals invite you to 'add' exotic scents; sweetsand is available, for foaming 'bubbles'. All rumors of the hedonistic pleasure enjoyed by weyrfolk seem to be confirmed here - indulge yourself!

You see Kabrielle here.

Jania is here.

Obvious exits:

Out

Jania drops her armload beside the baths, and shimmies out of her sundress casually before wading into the steaming pool. And as she untangles her braid, she begins humming a recognisable but very rude tune, "And rolls the greenrider over, roll her over..."

K'rill is a stalker, or not. Okay, so maybe he is a little bit. Having spotted a flash of Jania entering into the baths, he is drawing along right behind her. But, once in the misty confines, the bronzer looses her. Fardles. Wait... Listen...

Jania swings right into the chorus, "Cause she'll roll on until the fit is right, roll in and out till the morning light." Whoa. Where did Jania learn a song like that? Jania dunks her head at the end of the chorus, and comes up sputtering.(repose)

K'rill hears singing. Now, he knows he can carry a tune, knows quite a few sea chanties, isn't sure he could ever be a harper though. But, this tune is certainly entertaining, especially coming from Jania. Throat clears, "Jania?"

The singing, if it can be called that, suddenly breaks off. Jania freezes, mid eye swipe, and swings around slowly to face the entrance to the Baths. Nervously, she calls out, "Ah, who is that?" Although, with a sinking feeling, she suspects she knows. Slowly she backs into the deeper water.

K'rill melts out the mist, or something dramatic like that. "Me." He offers her up something of a tight smile as he tucks hands into the pockets of his trousers. "And how are you fairing today?"

Jania groans as it becomes clear that the voice does indeed belong to K'rill. Jania sinks below the surface of the water to shoulder depth. "Hello, K'rill. This is the last place I ever expected to see you." Jania's tone is cool, for all that a world of hurt lies just below the surface.

K'rill simply admits, "I followed you. Figured we could do for a talk after our last... less than successful meeting. I trust that you are taking care of yourself." He drops down to a crouch before the pool, resting forearms upon his thighs as he balances there.

Jania is uncomfortable. She stares over K'rill's shoulder for a long moment before returning her gaze to his face. "I'm...fine. Of course I've been taking care of myself." With  lots and lots of sugary pastries. Jania clears her throat. "I...think I owe you an apology. I let myself get jealous. Even though I know you are a bronzerider."

"I'm a product of the Weyr," K'rill also admits, or possibly reasons to himself to try to explain his wandering attentions. "And I apologize to you about that as well. You deserve better than whatever I can give you. But... I tried to tell you." He smirks, then looks back to her, "But despite all of that, I still need to have you and yours a part of my life. You understand that, right?"

Jania pauses, and admits, "I don't know if I can do that. With...the rider here, he's already got a weyrmate..I already know what to expect from him. This whole thing with us," Jania shakes her head, and barely whispers, "I just can't. I would expect too much, and then everyone would be hurt."

K'rill listens quietly to her, his open expression gradually shadowing as she speaks. "Jania, doesn't my track record with this sort of thing mean anything to you? Why do  you think I'm here practically twice a sevenday? Did I ever tell you about what happened between K'rali and I? I took the girl and kept her in my weyr when K'rali said that she couldn't do it any more. I refuse to allow someone else to care for those closest to my heart."

Jania 's face pinches as she listens to K'rill, picking and choosing what she wants to hear. "I don't need anyone else to care for me. I get along just fine, K'rill. Livi and I, we're a team." Jania hunches her shoulder. "If I need anything, I have an entire Weyr staff that I can call on. I don't /need/ you, K'rill." Jania is convincing herself.

K'rill nearly scowls at her, "Jania... a Weyr simply cannot do what I can. And I swear to you... this means more to me than anything. I /have/ to be a part of this. I /have/ to." There is a rather plain hint of desperation to his voice as he speaks.

Jania finds a strength she didn't know she had as she stares up at K'rill. "There isn't anything for you to be a part of, K'rill. I told you that last time we talked. I can't not be jealous, and you can't not be a bronzerider." She turns her back to him, and begins wading toward the far wall. Over her shoulder, she manages,"There are many nice woman up at Fort, K'rill. Offer one of them what you offer me. Even Liette, is she's have you. She...." Now here's a hard admission, "She seemed nicer than I expected when I saw her last sevenday."

K'rill simply stares at her with his soul in his eyes. "I... I can't fathom why you will deny me this, Jania? I simply can't. There are so many riders out there that wouldn't care at all about you... about this situation and simply ignore you. Jania, I'm offering you /everything/ but a weyrmating. I will /always/ be there. /Always/. I swear that you can count on me and... and I will you would just stop with this obsession you have with Liette. What about her? She has absolutely nothing to do with this. And I /have/ to have this, Jania. Please."

Jania is nearly crying herself. "K'rill, would you please, just...go away? Please? I can't do this. Do you understand? I can't do this. I don't care about other riders!" Jania winces, and adds awkwardly, "Well, except the thing with Kr'lin, and you already know about /that/. "

"But I /can't/. I /can't/. I am as much a part of this as you are, Jania. And I refuse to not to be allowed in. It goes against everything I know." K'rill drags his hands through his hair, peering over to her. "Jania... if you want to be with someone else, that is perfectly fine with me. If you want to be with anyone else and it makes you happy, I couldn't be happier for you. But /please/ let me be involved. I swear... you couldn't ask for a better man."

Jania finally turns to face K'rill in the shoulder deep water. And while it might be possilbe to mistake the water trailing down her face as condensation, the sheer misery in her eyes makes it clear that she is crying. "I can't do on again, off again, K'rill. I really did think of trying to stop in and talk to you when I was up at Healer Hall, but then I saw Liette, and I just couldn't. You might be able to handle me with someone else, but I don't know if I could extend you the same courtesy. I'm so sorry."

K'rill simply stares at her, still trying to puzzle through all of this and falling miserably behind. "I don't understand this, Jania. I just don't. I'm trying my hardest to make the connection, but it just keeps alluding me." He sighs deeper, looking across to her, "Can't this somehow be resolved? I swear to you Jania, I will do practically anything for this. Anything. I cannot be separated... It would kill me."

Jania gives up. She feels like she's pounding her head against a very hard wall. "K'rill-what do you want from me? I 've told you, I can't do this, I've told you, I won't do this!" Jania scrubs her hand across her face, and presses her palms against her forehead. "This is not what I wanted! We were friends! That was all!"

K'rill suddenly gets worried at one of her statement, "What do you mean that you won't do this? Jania... don't do anything rash. Please don't end this all because we can't seem to agree." There is even a touch of panic in his voice. "I will do /anything/ you want me to do, just don't end this."

Jania flinches a bit. Rash? Like make plans to knock boots with Kr'lin later this same evening? Er... Jania flushes, opens her mouth, and closes it, still silent. What can she say? Gently, she begins, "K'rill...I..."

K'rill peers at her for a moment. "Jania, just think before you act. But if you do anything to jeopardize this...." He sighs, drawing back to his feet. "You can't.... and I can't do this with you any more. Good day." He turns around and begins to walk out.

Kr'lin lets the curtain fall behind us, cutting off a draft of cool air from the hallway outside.

Jania begins wading through the water after K'rill. "K'rill! Wait! Please!!" Jania snatches for a towel, and stumbles through the knee deep water at the edge. "K'rill...jepordise what???"(repose)

Kr'lin doesn't even pause to strip, oh no.. He just dives straight into the cold pool.  Nothing like a cold bath to help knock down the fires of passion created by a Flight.  Of course, Kr'lin's never been in this particular position before.  Having won, yet lost.  A horrible, horrible thing.  Upon surfacing, he questions his dragon's lineage, curses the very shell he popped out of, and assorted other items one does when one wishes to disparage another.

K'rill makes his way towards the door, hesitating in his steps to look back to her, "What else then what we've been talking about? Jania... I... It would destroy me, and I would never forgive you. But... because of things being the way they are, it is still your decision. You do what you will and live with yourself afterwards." He steps right around Kr'lin, not even paying attention to who it is before leaving.
