Sambuccas

The music is a little louder here, and often it's a mix between old Italian classics, and the more modern tunes of Z100 radio, depending upon the crowd. The lighting is dark and the ceiling is low, giving the customers a feeling of being safely ensconsed in some secret rendezvous place.

The wooden tables are small, only large enough to support cups of coffee and plates of pastries. Black tablecloths cover them, with a single vase of fresh flowers residing on top, usually a clutser of simple daisies. There are four chairs to a table, but by the end of the night, they are often mixed and matched around, so that there really is no particular order to the way they are set up. Only a path is cleared so that the servers can bring out what has been ordered.

Obvious exits:

Exit

Sebastian is settled at a table, simply looking out the plate-glass windows and towards the street beyond. He seems rather occupied, cup held in hand, but he isn't drinking from it.

Haley walks in from the outside. She finds herself a free table near Sebastian, and sits, ordering a drink and a pastry of some sort once the waiter comes to ask her order.

Sebastian doesn't register any familiar faces at all, his attention still rather clearly elsewhere. But he does finally blink, and in that moment the man takes something of a sip of his coffee, and then settles it back upon the table.

Haley takes a moment to look around the dark room, seeing if perhaps she might know someone. Her gaze finally hits Sebastian, and she pauses, memory clicking. "Hello Sebastian," she says rather cheerfully to the man at the next table, taking new knowledge rather well at the moment, or still digesting everything she has recently learned.

Sebastian slowly turns his head at the sound of his name, vague interest in his eyes. Green-irised gaze focuses upon Haley for a moment, possibly something along the lines of disinterest, but then is followed by a flicker of recognition. "Haley? Right?"

Haley nods. "Yes. Haley. Surprised you remembered. Nice to see you," she says politely, before she stops looking at the man, not planning on being an annoyance and trapping him in conversation. Instead she takes her coffee and pastry from the server.

Sebastian's gaze has been plucked away from the window to the outside and is now centered upon Haley. She should have never said his name and drawn attention to herself. "I'm fairly proficient with names, remembering most, even those of passers-by on the street if noticed more than once. You have been noticed more than once. Three times now, I believe?"

Haley looks over at Sebastian and nods rather thoughtfully. "Yes, I do think this is the third time. And it'd be a mistake to assume people remember anything about myself. Far better to assume they don't, and be pleasantly surprised that they do." She sets her cup down then, taking a bite of her pastry.

Sebastian is looked over, and responds with an almost wry smile, "Well, then be surprised, young Haley. Because I do." He voice drops, but that accent is still obvious, "Answer me something, would you please...?"

Haley smiles. "I am surprised Sebastian. And answer a question? Sure. What do you need to know?" she asks him, assuming it isn't how to find a professor at this particular encounter.

Sebastian watches Haley for a moment longer before curling a finger to her in the classic 'come hither' movement. "Join me and I'll ask you, dearest Haley." That same finger gestures to a chair at the same table he is at.

Haley blinks at him, "Ummm. Sure." The student rises with her pastry and drink, slipping into the chair next to him. Her things are set down, and she looks at him once more. "Whats the question?"

[Monitor] Amiboshi (Kai) reconnected at Tue Mar 18 22:58:09 2003 EST.

Sebastian seems pleased that she takes the seat, although it is only outwardly shown with a rather benevolent grin. "Yes... I'm curious. What do you think of this world as it is? If you could change it, would you?" Loaded question, isn't it?

Haley blinks at his question. "Thats...quite the philosophical question I must admit." She frowns slightly, leaning back into her hair, thinking. It takes a few minutes before she responds. "Yes. If I had the chance to change the world I would. Many people like to think that they do change it by their behaviour, no matter how small. Change isn't always a bad thing." She peers at Sebastian. "Why do you ask?"

"I've been considering a few changes. Change in general, possibly?" Sebastian leans forward, resting his arm upon the table as he continues to watch Haley. Is it like the wolf eyeing a tasty morsel or just a common watching? Possibly a mixture of both. "Would you say that change can be destructive?"

Haley raises a brow. "It can be destructive. But usually it seems that destruction is what brings about change. Every technological advance we've had the last two thousand years comes after some war. From the Romans, to the Anglo-Saxons, to World Wars." She takes a sip of her drink then, before commenting further. "I guess it depends on the change, and how people take it as to whether it is destructive or constructive. Sometimes it can be both."

Sebastian nods his head slowly at Haley, "I like your answer. You actually have a good head on your shoulders. This is often times rare among the more mundane, but that answer is something that I could find myself easily agreeing with."

Haley 's lips tilt in a smile at the word mundane. "Dare I assume this question has something to do with ancient gods and powers?" she asks him, being rather forward with the question. She seems surprisingly calm about it, but then maybe the whole concept hasn't sunk in yet. Might just be something in the water making everyone act freaky.

Sebastian smiles just the faintest, "No, just philosophy, and my interest in what the common man, or woman, considers of it. It is.. intriguing. Especially hearing a point other than my own. I will definitely take it into consideration."

Haley looks at him curiously. "Take it into consideration with what? And I have to say the philosophy I offer should be taken with a grain of salt. I've no formal training in philosophy."

Sebastian's phone begins to ring.

Sebastian picks up his phone.

<Phone> Sebastian offers Haley a wry grin, "Oh, whether or not I decide to change a few things around here. There are some areas that could definitely use my touch." Shall we hope he means money? He reaches to pick up his cell, wincing just the slightest. "Please excuse me, Haley." And then he speaks into the cell, "Yes?"

Haley nods at his comment, then takes the moment to take a another bite of her pastry. She chews it thoughtfully, watching the man, swallowing, then repeating.

<Phone> The voice across the phone is quiet, strained, confined to a whisper as if torn apart. The 'sss' sound is easiest to make, requiring no throat-work whatsoever, but attempting the vowel makes the voice whimper, until she finally manages something akin to: "Seb?" Sibilant, obviously pained, it is, indeed, Reese on the phone.

<Phone> Sebastian pales quite considerably at the sound coming from the cell, completely forgetting Haley's presence. "Reese? Reese? Is that you?"

<Phone> Reese's confirmation is just a slightly 'yes'-like sound. "Hroat. Burns," she offers as justification, breathing as much of the words as she can. "Busy? Need hug." A pause, then, "Cough drops, too. Not hurt... too bad." Right.

<Phone> "Reese, where are you?" Sebastian's voice is utterly and completely calm, even if he is already moving to his feet. Money is tossed upon the table, and it is then that he notices Haley once more. "My apologies, miss. But I need to leave."

Haley nods at Sebastian. "Good luck," she tells him, sensing something is wrong. Perhaps they'll run into each other at some point again in the future.

<Phone> "Loft," Reese answers immediately, her breath hissing lightly as she shifts with a thump. "S'not 'n 'mergency," the tinny voice insists, but there's an edge to her soft voice, something frightened and not at all pleased with her state.

<Phone> Sebastian answers swiftly, "I'll be there in seconds." He offers Haley a nod of his head, and then apparently not giving a damn at all about the fact that he is in the middle of a building, makes a seemingly invisible portal right then and there with a slash of his finger, and simply steps forward to disappear.

You hang up your phone.

Penthouse Loft

Overlooking the majority of the penthouse, this loft area is raised up a good ten feet over the rest of the place. An open stairway leads to yet another area to congregate with a few couches near a wealth of various electronics, from the large flat-screen television to an arrangement of stereo equipment that would do a musician proud. Splitting off from here is the master bedroom with its own wealth of furniture and windows, another pair of spare rooms that are currently made up as bedrooms, and the office area.

Akurei is here.

Obvious exits:

Out

Sebastian steps through a portal right on into the room, still in the process of putting the cell into his pocket. Yeah, he is looking a wee-bit pale, eyes searching the room for her.

Reese huddles in a corner of the couch, having not yet relinquished her grasp on the phone. There's something of a feeling there, that the woman has been sitting in the same position for quite some time, staring blankly into space. The influx of magic tightens her shoulders, her muscles noticibly strained, and she sits, obviously not attempting to touch anything, even the leather outfit floating an inch above her skin.

Sebastian is already slipping over to Reese, staring at her. He mutters something under his breath, dropping to his knees just shy of the sofa. "Reese? What do you need?" Worry seeps into his voice despite his best efforts to keep it well and at bay. "What happened to you?"

"Vertigo," Reese answers first, pointing to her head meaningfully and closing her eyes. Now that she doesn't have to project, she's free to speak as softly as she likes. "Adrie. Passed out... woke up later in her apartment." Eyes begin to well with tears as she finally turns to Sebastian, but stares through him, her mind in some awful turmoil. "She touched. And lots. Bad touch." Saltwater trails down her face, dropping onto her knees and eliciting sharp hisses as the leather barely indents, touching her leg.

If Reese is feeling any anger, she is suddenly going to get a huge rush of it right about now. Sebastian watches Reese with wide eyes, not quite sure what he can do, "Can I touch you, Reese? Tell me what to do to help you?" Again, the worry to his voice, an obvious tremor.

Reese feels it, and squeaks in response, her head shaking violently as she winces her eyes closed. "Nonononono," she spouts, her muscles tightening at the mention of touch. Her chest heaves with a few rattling breaths, then the girl summons some calm into her system, continuing. "Bit lip. Got free. Adrie... Adrie healed. Healed and burned. Screaming," she gasps, huddling into a ball and crying out. It's not that her skin burns in the same way any more - the walk home surely would have killed her if it did - but that the memory of all her nerves screaming in unison is branded into her flesh, and makes her whimper more. "Choked more. Healed and burned more. Screamed. Choked most." Here, a little grin of pride as she attempts to overcome her tactile memories, hugging her knees and more importantly concealing her errogenous zones. "Bad touch," she murmurs again.

Sebastian steadies a hand that was reaching towards her, instead bringing it back over to cover over his mouth. And that flare of anger is immediately gone, drug down into that part of him that hoards such emotions, keeping them nice and tight for a better time to be released. "Reese," he drawls slowly, not at all sure what to do for her. Again, there is something of wonder to his voice. "Please, Reese, tell me what to do for you."

Reese purses her lips, considering her options until she steadies her own shaking, flicks tears away from her face. "Hug?" she squeaks, then hurriedly adds, "Gentle. No sex." The ferocity in her final demand slips a growl into her tone, though it burns at her worn throat. "She had me tied up, and made me want her so bad. And she had her hands on me, and was taking and taking... And I was so sick, and couldn't do anything," Reese mumbles, leaning towards Sebastian, face collapsing from memory. "So helpless... God, I couldn't do anything."

Reese, thinking in her right mind, might warn Sebastian against doing anything, might recognize his rage and calm it. But inches away from catatonic, all she can do is grip onto his jacket and slide into him, balling her hands into fists and sobbing. Cradled there, she cannot see the imminent danger, but begins to breathe noticably easier, those rattling intakes of air smoothing. "Seb?" she murmurs quietly, unclenching her fingers and extending them towards his face.

Sebastian is quite calm at the moment. He is doing an excellent job at reverting, and reverting hard. Every single bit of anger, worry, and all else is being shoved deep away for use later. He cradles her against him, gently smoothing his hand over her back with soft strokes as he waits out her sobbing. As she speaks his name, he turns his head to her, searching Reese's gaze, but remaining quiet.

"Sebastian?" Reese asks quietly, looking up into his too quiet face and touching his cheek with her fingertip, running it slowly to his lip and exploring. She shifts her body, eliciting a small shiver but positioning her so that she can lay both hands upon his face as though blind, searching for something, some depth. "Where are you, love? Why can't I... Where are you?" The echo is more desperate, almost pleading as she searches his face for any ounce of emotion.

And she isn't going to get any except that which is plucked out of the usual way of before. If the facial expression fits, he'll use it. Sebastian offers her a soft grin. "I am here, Reese. Hush now. Do you wish to try a bath? Or would that be too much for you now. I can run one for you? Or would you prefer to lay down. What do you need?"

"No, no," Reese insists, burying her face into Sebastian's chest, as if hiding from all of those daily routine chores. "No," she whispers again, her fingers sliding down to the man's neck, then pulling the braid around his shoulder, pressing it into her cheek. "Stay here with me, Sebastian." She pauses, considers this, then changes her mind. "Take me to the bed, then stay there with me. Keep me safe?" The final addition is made, voice meek and tired, balancing gingerly between exhaustion and utter inexplicable fear.

Sebastian draws in a breath, and then another. Finally, he does nod his head to her. He watches Reese, as if memorizing her face of every detail. A hand moves over to cup her cheek, thumb sliding over the skin. In the next moment though he is adjusting his hold of her, and moving to his feet. "I will stay with you. You will always be safe with me." He moves towards the bedroom, climbing onto the bed on his knees before gently setting her down once more.

Reese curls onto her side, still somewhat protective of her own body. Sebastian is gazed at with a helpless type of adoration - the desperate need for emotion is gone, vanished in the wake of sheer thankfulness aglow in chocolate eyes. The touch, though cringed at initially, brings a smile to her face, and snaking a hand out, she pulls the man to the bed beside her. "Good," she sighs, so easily reassured. Eyes close: perhaps they too protect her from the horrible world, or perhaps she's merely tired. In any case, they open again only once, to find the man's gaze. "Sebastian," she murmurs, "I love you." Then lids slide down, her smile wan, but present.

Sebastian slides down beside her, reaching over to give her a gentle nudge -knowing that Reese seems to prefer settling her head on his chest- to do so. "Hush now. Rest. I'll be here for you." But those words of her's are used as well, drawn away and tucked safely with the rest for another time when the emotion provoked can be put to good use. He is already calculating though, readying for later.

Reese follows his cues, some kind of shellshock making her docile, acquiescent. Curling her body against Sebastian's, the girl feels comfortable and safe - some nagging feeling is telling her about anger and pain, but she ignores it calmly, breathing with an even rhythm. She clears her head, praying to her god against memories and nightmares. It takes mere minutes for her to fall asleep, but she does so calmly. For now.

Cursing.............Gouka's powers are a double edged sword.  On the one hand, she can make people sick.  Really sick.   Bacterial, Viral infections....she can even cause some genetic infections, provided she knows how to mimic the disease.  But it's not a permanent effect.   It's temporary, and so it's primary purpose is to cause great pain, or incapacitation, and so forth.  For example, she could cause hemophilia in a person, making any wounds appear to bleed heavily, and make it so that the blood flow is unstemmable.  She can cause gangrene, nausea, flues, colds, mono, respiratory infections, and so forth.   It's one of her favorite things to cause a person to pass out, then take that person back to her lair to....play.   She can, and will kill with her power, although she does have something of a weak stomach herself.   Killing people is one thing...but blood and gore is something else entirely.   Plus, nothing kills within hours, which is usually how long she has anyway.  This power is also temporary, unless she's concentrating upon it.   Any illness she places in a person usually disappears with no further ill effects within two hours.  The other edge of this weapon is it's ability to heal.   All of her powers manifest themselves in aura's of fire, but she can direct that fire upon an ally or enemy.   There is a problem with this.   There is no soul corruption when used upon a Onisenshi, but on anyone else, there will be...some element of the patient's soul that becomes darker...tainted with Sungnocha's power.   Plus, the very act of healing itself involves severe burning pain for /all/ who experience it, making it a case of the cure being worse than the disease.
