Fort Weyr WingSecond

As a Southern-based Trading Caravan traveled round and round, a little girl by the name of Taire followed along with them. See, she had to -she was rather child-like and her parents were members of said caravan. Taire is just one of many, many kidlets that her 'rents had. Shoshana (PC) was another of those 'brats of the older variety.

The trading caravan life worked well with Taire. In fact, she flourished. Working with the animals, being self-sufficient, able to capitalize on small things and make a deal to her advantage. It was always the ideal life for the girl. She was her father's daughter, to put it plainly. But, to that end, she was almost too much like him. The independent streak ran true through the family line. Nearly a rite of passage, each and every elder child declaired their independence and went off on their own to make their way in the world. Some returned to caravan life, some never returned. Shoshana didn't. Taire declaired her independece alarmingly early, at hardly more than 12 turns of age.

It was at this time when the trading caravan happened to be at Xanadu Hold. Taire declaired her independence and her parents told her that if the girl wasn't financialy independent and had a place of her own by the time the caravan came back through two seven-days later, Taire would be leaving with them. Those pair of seven-days passed, and just a couple of days before the caravan returned, Taire was now the proud owner of her own title: Xanadu Hold Messenger. And there she now. Independent as much as a young girl can be.

At the age of 14, Taire was minding her own business in the main hall of Xanadu when this pompus rider just waltzed right on in and changed her life. V'len was on a consultation with the Lady Holder over cloth swatches and the Magnificent Yevgeth found that Taire seemed to be an excellent prospect for Candidacy at Fort Weyr. After striking a deal with the rider that she would go to the Weyr with him if the dragon wouldn't eat her, she arrived at Fort, scared stiff. Eventually, she made friends of the candidates and began to understand just what a Weyr is. It was both scary and startling to her. Alas, she eventually felt right at home despite all the grumbling about chores, or just how stupid some riders can be, and that kissing can be quite fun.

Amazingly enough, after going through a rather hectic Hatching where in one moment she was clinging to a pair of her fellow candidates and in the next they were pushing her up to the dragons, she actually Impressed. Green Sullaketh came into her life.

Weyrlinghood was a lesson in life. She learned more of dragons and weyrlife during that time than during her candidacy. Sullaketh was a little slower than the other weyrlings, taking more time to fly and loathing the taste of sandstone instead of firestone in her stomach. But, graduate they did and get their very own weyr, Taire's first place of her own.

Taire's weyrling class itself was rather, odd. Between all the kissing and brawls, the group was very close knit and remained so after weyrlinghood. Despite the fact that a couple of guys she knew had told the girl that they had feelings for her, Taire always had a soft spot in her heart for the boy who gave her her first kiss. Naturally, she tried at every twist and turn to deny it. But, it eventually came out, and Taire and F'ox became a bit of an item, much to the young greenrider's delight.
