Each step was a thundering rumble. Olek felt as if this was his march to death, into a depth from which few return. He sulked down the hallway from which he had starved in for the last months, before the Nazis had driven from his home. He remembered it so well. They had barged into his home. The door to its entrance, a familiar sight he had grown up with, suddenly towered down. It seemed like an explosion as the Nazis kicked the wooden frame down, and grabbed he and his mother violently into the street, pushing him into the walking lines of souls into the street. This reminded Olek so much of that same walk in his hometown; your mind went blank of hope, and your fears of what may lie ahead ravaged. The Nazi, this evil eyes still glowing, yelled in the figure’s face. Olek senses kicked in, he knew the shedding of blood seemed evident. He started to step back, ever so slowly, being careful not to arouse the soldier’s attention. The Nazi spitted in the figure’s face as a mass of words pierced the cold air. All was slow, and with each step a booming cry echoed throughout the hall. Olek thought his steps of fear were making so much noise, but alas, those devilish eyes never left their prey. Olek turned around, and saw his mother also sensed this disturbance. The two slowly started to meander away from death as they knew it, and all the while those eyes never faltered away from its victim.
Suddenly, a roar that made Olek literally jump pierced throughout the air struck. Olek turned his head: the body lie face down, its cloaks now suddenly turning a dark color of red. Olek’s mother shrieked ever so silently with her baby in her arms.
Ahead, those eyes from which Olek learned to fear shot in their direction. Olek now shuddered, as he had never done before: the man started to walk past the dead carcass towards Olek…...
