Famous Quotes from People Throughout History

Another page in history turns every moment

People in history have said many famous things. Here are some of my favorites, and how they are related to ZSP....

"God helps those who help themselves."

This quote is probably the most important saying you'll ever hear. It says a lot within its simple words. God helps those who help themselves. It's a way of life all in it's own. You probably are saying, "What's soooo important about this saying?" This saying is so important because it's sooooo true!! Just take this for example: A man dies of a heart attack due to that he did not HELP himself. "What did he do wrong?", you say. HE CONSUMED TOO MUCH CHOLESTROL!! He did not help HIMSELF by eating the right foods that God perscribed for a healthy body. So, God did not help him in return. If you don't help YOURSELF by exercising your mind and body, God in return will not help you. It's as simple as that.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

This is a brilliant quote in it's own fashion from the former president, Franklin Delano Rooselvelt. It's quite a statement. It states so much in just a few words. It gathers all the aspects of human fear, into just ONE thing; fear itself. When you really think about it, that really is the only thing we have to fear.......is fear itself.

The FDR Memorial

Hey bandos we were there too, FDR Memorial!!

"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy."

Oh, perhaps one of my most favorite quotes. This is a quote from one of the most talented and famous music gurus ever known; Ludwig Van Beethoven. Only a musical genius like himself could've conspired such a saying. If you think about it, music is much higher than all wisdom and philosophy. Wisdom and philosophy are attributes that are explainable and perceptive, but music is something that no one can really explain fully. Music is an unknown spiritual phenomenon, for the reason why we like such a thing is perhaps beyond our mental limits.

Beethoven wrote beautiful music, despite his lack of hearing. Music knows no limits.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country."

It is perhaps one of the greatest tradigies in American history that such a man as John Fitzgerald Kennedy had to die so shortly. Conspiring this quote, it is a million words and stories put together in a sentence, because, when our Founding Fathers imagined this country, this is what they had in mind. No one was born to this country like royalty, you had to build it yourself. Presidents were not inagurated at birth, but after a lifetime of service. The country cannot stand alone on its own two feet, it needs the helping hand of its neighbors, and in this case the American people are such neighbors. You can proudly say that YOU build this country, for YOU elect the builders, YOU build its history. We really never can ask what our country is doing for us, because we all are constantly doing for our country ourselves.

"When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro Spiritual, "Free at last! Free at last! thank God Amlightly, we are free at last!!!"

This is an excerpt of Martin Luther King's, "I Have a Dream Speech" given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (hey bandos, we were there!!) To read or hear the entire speech, click below.

Another one of the worlds tradgedies, that a man who had so much compassion and understanding for all peoples of the world was shot. That man was Martin Luther King. With that ending cry of his speech shown above, an immense roar to the uprising of peace and prosperity roared from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial that day, and it would seem that just for a moment that in this world, peace and prosperity reigned from those who dreamed it. It's a triumphant moment in history, for when at the moment where freedom rings, those who dreamed it shall be watching from high above.

Martin Luther King was a great man.

Always do right, that will gratify some and astonish the rest."

No one would ever expect Mark Twain, the creator of such characters as Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn to have conceived this idea! Despite this, this quote is true. Some people expect you to always do good, but for some this just can be astonishing! In short, this just mean do the right thing, for not only will God look down upon you with righteousness, but you will also.

"I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded…I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed…I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war."

Another very powerful statement from the famous President, Franklin Delano Rooselvelt. Worth a million words, this quote upruptly states the pure agonies of war, from starving children, to the bleeding dead lying on the battlefield, this statement can bring so much to mind. War is terrible, and this statement thus proves this.

Although I wasn't around, I think FDR was a great president.
