The Pablo Neruda Episode
So, I'm cruising the AOL instant messenger profiles this morning, as I'm inclined to do from time to time. Well, at any rate, I found one (CarrieBear278) with a beautiful selection written by Pablo Neruda. So, I'm sitting here thinking, wow, someone who knows who Pablo Neruda is, I'm impressed. However, when I get to the end, I notice that she doesn't credit Neruda at all. Well, who does she credit? Patch Adams, that's right, Patch Adams. So I'm thinking, that can't stay like that. So, ever so politely, I ask her if I might comment on her profile. I get no response. So, Branden, being the ever patient (heh) person he is, explains the situation to her and I tell her that I hate to see Mr. Neruda not get the credit he deserves for writing something so beautiful. Next thing I know, the bitch warns me, not once, not twice, but three times... Anyway what I'm getting at, you wonderful disciples of the Apostale, you... if you happen to see her online, tell her, ever so politely, that her info is incorrect. Tell her who wrote this piece:
"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep."
After that, if you have the gumption, warn the fuck out of her...
Thank you for your attention.
-one love.
