A CS Encounter with the Astrolite Province

"We were walking through the forest, searching for the fugitive. These particular woods were on the farthest Western reaches of CS territories. Lieutenant Barnes had told us to follow, and as the Corporal of our small five-man-squad, I was responsible for the fugitives capture. The bastard had killed three CS soldiers before escaping Westward. He hoped that we wouldn't follow through unfamiliar territory. He was foolish. The CS might is unsurpassed, mere woods cannot stop us! Our tracker was following the small, narrow path in the woods, explaining that fresh boot prints of appropriate size were along it.
PFC Charles was in taking point and was being extremely careful, this was his first real mission. He turned to me with fear in his eyes.
"Sir, it's just a lowly fugitive, do we really need to follow him out here? He's dead for sure!" He said with a definite note of fear in his voice.
"We follow orders, private, now get back to point." I said sternly. He moved farther ahead and fell through the ground! His scream lasted for almost two seconds before we heard a loud thump. I ran over to the pitfall, telling the men to stay behind. I looked in. It was about 35 feet deep, way too deep for hunting. The spikes were vibro spikes. It was obvious it was for someone in armor. Charles was dead.
In a second, lasers came zapping from the woods and nailed two of my four remaining men. They were far from dead, but stunned. I turned and was about to pull the trigger when a grenade plunked near me. It detonated, sending me flying, killing the two stunned men and injuring the other two. I decided that I had better play dead, or I wouldn't be playing at all. I lay there, my charred armor hardly worth wearing anymore, I saw three men in black armor with smoking weapons rush out and blast my remaining men, execution style. Their weapons I had never seen, their armor neither. The armor was chrome-like and reminded me of a glitter boy armor plate, only black. The men each had an insignia on their chests.
Now, I can't read, but I can recognize letters. It was an A and a P. They thought I was dead, I suppose and they took off into the woods. For ten minutes, I didn't move. These men frightened me, their weapons were far better than ours were, three of them had managed to take out 5 of the Coalition's soldiers, and we did not even get a shot off. I finally got up and activated my radio. It didn't work. So I searched my men until I found one and quickly called you I am at..."

Message sent by Corporal Morren to CS HQ in Chillicothe. The bodies of him and his men were never found, neither was the battle site or the fugitive.
