On our way to Mexico, we went farther West than we would have planned to avoid CS capture. We moved quickly through the forested area, we wanted to move along quickly and get to our destination. We moved along, deciding to hitch a ride with some merchants on their way West on a trade route. To where, we didn't know and I don't recall being told.
The merchants seemed pleasant enough as we climbed aboard their large....wagon I guess would be the best way to describe it. It had four beasts of burden I had never seen before. We soon fell asleep, not really caring how long it took to get there. Anything was better than walking, we were exhausted. We woke to the sound of a city. I peered out of the wagon and saw a humongous city! It had at least 600,000 people, all going about their business. The merchants said that this was the city of War Torn, a city in the so-called Astrolite Province. I marveled at the city, noticing that it was exactly what I envisioned a pre-rifts city to look like, except the constant military presence.
The guards all wore black, chrome-like armor and had large weapons I had never seen before. They looked very intimidating. I was about to ask about them when the merchants pulled away, driving off into the city. They left Sir Thorpe my trusted friend, and me, in a foreign city of which we had no idea how it got here.
We walked over to the soldier nearest and decided to ask him where we could get supplies, perhaps his commanding officer.
We soon found ourselves in a large office with a VERY unhappy and scary looking man. He leaned closely and asked us what we needed.
I was at a loss of words, everything was happening quickly that I could only stammer. "We...uh...that is...uh..." then Sir Thorpe piped in. "We would like to know if we could have some supplies. We are on our way to Mexico and are flat out. Is there some way we could compensate you for the supplies and your troubles?" He asked politely.
The man thought for a second. "Wait, I know you, you're Erin Tarn!" He smiled. "For you, all you need to do is ask. Anyone that is public enemy number one in the CS is our ally." He gave us some money. It was gems we could easily exchange anywhere.
They gave us transport out of the area and farther south, towards the vampire kingdoms. They dropped us off at a small town and gave us a map of the area. The Astrolite Province was not on the map. Before we could say anything else, they were gone. That was the last I saw of the Astrolite Province. To this day, I still have no idea how we got there. I have tried to find it on many maps, but come up with nothing. I only hope that their marvelous technology can be shared with the world.
