Taikiko Okuda was the child of a librarian - so she was always reading books. One day she came across a book called the universe of the four gods. When she opened it she was taken into it and found herself in a land called Hokkan. She wandered around the city lost until she desperately went to a local food vendor to beg for food. Tomite & Hikitsu, being childhood friends, were in the city as palace guards. When the saw Taikiko they felt sorry for her and bought her some food and offered her to stay at their hotel in a separate room they purchased for her. When she sat down at dinner and told them her tail they told her of the legend of the Priestess of Genbu. She was intregued and ask more about it. Hikitsu and Tomite took her to see their Emperor. He explained Kouto's desire to take over Hokkan and the wishes. Taikiko was a desperately sad girl. Her homelife was very lonely. So she decided to become Priestess. Immediately they set out to search for the rest of the Genbu seven.
Uruki was the next one we were lucky enough to find. She became close friends with Taikiko and helped to encourage her to express her love for Tomite. Their love grew and deepened over time. Once all seven were gathered...Taikiko was preparing to summon Genbu. She was running from her room to town to find a suitible hair ornament for the ceremony when a Kouto soldier on horseback was preparing to trample her to death. Tomite saw the trap and sprung out to save her. Hikitsu ran to stop him but they both were trampled and died right there.
Taikiko could not surpress her grief over the loss. Thanks to MeiRei (their taitsukuin) she was able to summon Genbu and save Hokkan and go home. Losing Tomite made her grief worse, and the loss of him drove her to the depths of depression...and that left her vounerable to the beast god. He was killing her. When she went home to her world, her father noticed her suffering and decided the only way he could remedy it was to kill her, and then kill himself for the deed. She waits for Tomite as his spirit along with Hikitsu's guarded her shrine for hundreds of years.
