Following Edwin Hardie's death, Clara moved into a Senior Citizens apartment complex in Redfield, SD called "The Village" She lived there along until the year 2000 when she was moved into the Lakeview HealthCare Center which was an assisted living center by Lake Redfield in Redfield, SD. At this time her memory was failing her a great deal and often called his son's by each other's names. She was 95 years old at the time she moved into the Lakeview.
Clara was always known for her fun loving nature. She was always game to go places and do things - even when her health began failing and she needed the assistance of a cane to walk. In her 90's she still made a trip to Branson, Missouri with her daughter and granddaughters to see some shows and enjoyed it thoroughly. She was not one to watch television but dearly loved doing word search puzzles by the hour.

Arvold attended grade school at the Catholic School in Zell, South Dakota and then attended Redfield High School, in Redfield, South Dakota graduating in 1959. Immediately following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Air Force for 21 years and 1 month before retiring from the military.

On December 24, 1984, he married Roxanne Trenholm Rossow in Watertown, South Dakota at the Plateau Chapel. He took over the role as father to Roxanne's two daughters, Rochelle (Shelly) and Noelle. On September 6, 1986, a son was born to Arvold and Roxanne, namely Shane Edwin Hardie.
On January 18, 1981, Arvold lost his son, Richard, to cancer of the brain. Richard was living in Montana and Arvold and Roxanne flew out there to see him prior to his death. This was Roxanne's first plane ride and she did not take to flying at all.
In January, 1998, Arvold was diagnosed with tonsil and lymph node cancer. He underwent 7 weeks of radiation, driving 99 miles one way every day to undergo this radiation treatment. Then on June 4, 1998, he had surgery at the University of Minnesota Hospitals (the surgery was performed by Dr. George Adams). He got along very well and Dr. Adams considered him "cured" in December, 2000.
Arvold and Roxanne had purchased a home at 109 9th Street SE, in Watertown, SD in 1985 and remain there at this writing.
Notes for ROXANNE TRENHOLM:
Roxanne Virginia Trenholm was born on June 11, 1945, to William Francis Trenholm and Virginia Rawlins Trenholm, at Bartron Hospital, in Watertown, South Dakota. She started school at Lincoln Grade School in Watertown, South DAkota and she and her parents lived at 11 3rd Street SE in Watertown. She had a pet Boston Terrier puppy, named Toy, who walked her to school every day. On her 6th birthday she was given a pet kitten, named Fluffy, and she loved to wheel her cat around dressed in doll clothes and in a doll buggy. That started her lifelong love for cats and she was never without one for long.
When Roxanne was 7 years old she moved with her parents to Wessington SPrings, South Dakota and she attended school there until she finished the 6th grade. At that time the family again moved, this time to Redfield, South Dakota, and she completed her education, grading from Redfield High School in 1963. She was active in the band and took many trips with the Redfield Band. She also loved debate and excelled in Math and English and took part in plays during high school.
In 1965 Roxanne moved to Watertown, SD where she lived for a time with her grandparents and went to work for Midland National Life Insurance Company. In 1967 she quit there and on January 2, 1968 she went to work as a medical secretary for Bartron Clinic in Watertown, SD. On February 9, 1969 she married Ross Mitchell in Watertown, SD. The following January, 1970 they were divorced as he was a severe alcoholic and she could not handle a life like that.
In March, 1970 she met Richard Alan Rossow and on June 4, 1970 they were married in Watertown, South DAkota at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gustav Van Tassel officiating. They spent their honeymoon in the Black Hills where they did a lot of trout fishing.
On June 24, 1971 a daughter, Rochelle Lynne Rossow was born in Watertown, South DAkota.
In 1972 they purchased two acres of land on Lake Pelican near Watertown and built a new home there. On Noveber, 1973 they moved into their new home and on December 11, 1973, their second daughter, Noelle Lea Rossow, was born.
After the birth of Noelle, Roxanne worked for Dr. E. H. Heinrichs, a pediatrician in Watertown, as his secretary until his retirement and then in November, 1977 she went to work as a legal secretary for Ross H. Oviatt in Watertown.
In 1982 she and Richard Rossow were divorced and she moved with her daughters into Watertown. She met Arvold L. Hardie in Redfield, SD when she was back there visiting and on December 24, 1984 they were married. On September 6, 1986, a son was born to Roxanne and Arvold, Shane Edwin Hardie.
Roxanne worked in the legal field until 1996 when her father got very ill and she quit work to help care for him until his death. A month after her father's death, her husband, Arvold was diagnosed with tonsil cancer and underwent radiation therapy and surgery and then recovery so Roxanne did not go back to work and became a housewife and stay-at-home mother.
Arvold and Roxanne had purchased a home at 109 9th Street SE, WAtertown, South Dakota, in 1985 and at this writing are still residing in that home.
