Otis Holenbeck & family moved to Iowa in 1860. The family moved to Graham (Nodaway County), Missouri in September 1871. In the Spring of 1872 they moved to Ninnin Valley (Holt County), Missouri. The Post Office was Mound City, MO. Otis and his wife Parilla died in March 1880. Their son John worked on their farm till July 1882. = K

Otis Holenbeck, son of Urias Holenbeck, was born in Chautauqua County, New York. He married Parilla Hume on November 28, 1850 in Illinois. From there they moved to Jasper County, Iowa near Prairie City. Later they homesteaded in Nodaway County, Missouri near Mound City. To this couple fourteen children were born. This included three sets of twins. = L

Mrs. Parilla Holenbeck, wife of Otis Holenbeck, in the 53rd year of her age, died at her residence in Minnesota Valley on Thursday, February 26th, of general congestion. Otis Holenbeck died at his residence in Minnesota Valley, on Friday, the 4th inst. of congestion of the stomach, just one week and one day from the death of his wife. He seemed weary of life and expressed a desire to follow his wife who had been his partner for thirty years.
