A VERY Basic Geography Lesson
This
is a map of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The 1995 Dayton Peace Accords,
which ended the war, created two entities within
Bosnia-Herzegovina. The slightly darker-colored section is Republika
Srpska (Serbian Republic), which is Serb majority. The lighter yellow-colored section is
the Muslim/Croat Federation, which is Bosniak (Muslim) and Croat
majority.
Sometimes people ask where exactly is Herzegovina. The answer is,
it is a historical region in what is now southern Bosnia and
might not be indicated on maps. But the official name of the
country is "Bosnia-Herzegovina".
When we first came to Bosnia, we lived in Banja Luka in Republika
Srpska. Now we live in the capital city, Sarajevo, in the
Muslim/Croat Federation.
