Those who have Impressed

You walk into a huge room with many "book cases," as people call them, lining the walls, most of them bare. You recall that Middle is still a rather new Weyr, and so it doesn't have much of a history. A figure catches your eye, and you almost laugh out loud looking at him. He's very carefully carrying a huge stack of books towards one of the shelves, unable to see past them, cricking his neck as he strains to, in vain. You walk forward and clear your throat, causing him to jump and drop several of the books off the top.

He groans. "I'm sorry, but I'm, ah, really busy right now..." You shake your head and offer to help, and he looks surprised as you pick half the stack and ask where it goes. "Over, uh, there," he stammers, indicating one of the empty shelves with his head. You nod and walk over, placing the books down, and he sets his stack next to yours. There's an awkward silence as he bends down and starts shoving them in randomly. You ask if you can help and he shakes his head, stubburnly. "I've g-got it." Another silence, and you ask him if he's the Records keeper.

He nods. "My name's Fonision," he says. "I'm 17 and n-never been Searched in my life," he adds before you can ask if he's a candidate. You grin and he sighs, taking a break. "This is the Records room, but I s-suppose you've already found that out." He speaks in a very quiet tenor, stuttering and being very careful not to slur his words, so he talks slowly. "I suppose you're h-here to find out who's Impressed w-what?" You nod and he looks satisfied. "Over there, on th-that table, is a book with a green cover. That's the I-Impressed list, organized by clutch n-number by me and K'ven."

You thank him and go to examine the book.
