You enter one of the older weyrs in Middle; too small for a dragon to inhabit, yet still very large. You look around, but no one seems to be there. Discouraged, you're about to leave, when a voice behind you makes you stop.
"Can I help you with something?" You turn and see a young boy who can't be any older than 11 Turns at the entrance. He wears a brown-and-green tunic that seems a bit too large for him, but the thing you really notice are the many scars all over him; one of which keeps his left eye closed. He walks with crutches, and has a strange blue mark on his forehead. This must be Miki, you think.
You explain that you were just looking around. He smiles--an oddly sad smile, and you remember that he had lost not one, but two dragons, two flits and a watchwher. It must be hard on the poor kid, able only to walk on one leg and to see out of only one eye. "I'm terribly sorry that there's not much to see in my weyr... I don't really have much to put in it, anyway." He tilts his head at you, as if measuring your worth. Suddenly, a strange creature darts between his legs, circles you twice, then zooms into the darkness of the weyr. Miki grins at your surprised expression.
"Don't worry about Tani, she's perfectly harmless. She was a gift to my parents from a friend on Zekira. She's a ferilon, by the way, and special." His eyes suddenly unfocus and he looks lost, in the way--you'd been told--dragonriders who'd lost their dragons looked. You quickly say that you'll be going and he doesn't seem to hear. He just wanders around, as if searching for something...
