Hellenic Appoint New Head Coach Business Day (Johannesburg) June 13, 2003 Posted to the web June 13, 2003 Wits University Thierry Mouyouma. Johannesburg CAPE Town's sleeping soccer giants Hellenic appear to have finally leant from their mistakes and they have promised to reclaim their past glory next season. The Greek Gods will want to forget last season in a hurry as they spent much of the campaign languishing in the bottom-half of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table. While other PSL clubs have been busy signing new players almost every day over the past few weeks, Hellenic made an even more important addition to their staff when they appointed Clemens Westerhof as their new head coach. Guy Hedderwick, the Hellenic general manager, was confident yesterday the welltravelled Dutchman would turn the once mighty Cape club around. "You don't go from the bottom to the top of the log, but watch us next season," he said. He said the club turned to Westerhof when their original target for the coaching position Wits University's Roger De Sa decided to remain with the Clever Boys. Westerhof has an impressive CV and has coached the Nigerian national side and the Pretoria club, Sundowns. Hedderwick said that the club was still negotiating with former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Mngomeni for next season.
