Dutchmen playing or training at Malaga CF :

Former Ajax- player Kiki Musampa has left French champions Girondins Bordeaux after a 2,5 million Euro transfer to newly promoted Malaga Club de Futbol. Next to Musampa the club tries to buy Pedro Munitis (Racing Santander) for a clubrecord fee of 8,6 million Euro. Malaga is the 6th city in Spain but their soccer team made has a terrible history. In the 80’s the big trouble started and when the team went down in 1990 to the Secunda Division, Club Deportivo de Malaga (est. 1908) went bankrupt in 1992. Their satelite-club Atletico Malagueno got the honours of representing the city till 1994. In that year the newly formed club called Malaga Club de Futbol played in 4th division. In 1995 the club promoted from 4th to 3rd division but had to wait till the 1997/98 season when president Fernando Puche took over. In that year the club promoted to Secunda Diviosion, with ex-Altletico Madrid player Joaquin Peiro as caoch, and bought 15 players from all over the world. Especially striker Catanha (topscorer) was a lucky shot.
