WORDS FROM LOU SHEIMER

Well, this came about thanks to Rich on the Lou Scheimer Productions message board at castlegrayskull.org! He was kind enough to foward one of my questions to Mr. Scheimer himself, the guy who was in charge of the entire She-Ra & He-Man universe! The qustion I asked was simply what his opinions were of Shadow Weaver. This is how it went.

I just showed Lou your post and spoke to him about your question. Back then, there weren't too many female villians in animation. The bad guy was always just that-a bad GUY. The introduction of Shadow Wea ver served more than one purpose. Like She-Ra could be a heroine, Shadow Weaver could also be a female villian. Even in the 80's, we were still a male-dominated society and the introduction of strong female characters (both good and bad)was a message to e v eryone that men, women, boys, and girls are all equal. In addition, Shadow Weaver allowed us to address the issues of greed and vanity in a way that children could understand without coming off as moralistic (even though Lou has the highest morals of anyo ne I've known. even though there were literally hundreds of He-Man and She-Ra episodes made, lou still remembers Shadow Weaver and is very proud he was able to effectively get the message across.

Lou also wanted to thank you for the web page that you created and is inspired that you still hold his creations in your heart, mind, and soul.

Whee, that was fun! If you have any questions you'd like to ask personally, hop on over to the Grayskull boards at CastleGrayskull.org!
