Warriors versus Bakersfield High Drillers

In 2023, the Warriors upset the BHS Drillers in a Division II playoff, 35-14. The game was played in Bakersfield
and marked the first time Tehachapi has defeated BHS in football at the varsity level.
In 2019, the Warriors and Drillers met for the third time in school history
at the varsity level. In 2019 in Tehachapi, the powerful Drillers defeated the Warriors 49-20.
The Drillers also defeated the Warriors 57-7 in 2018.
In 2001, the Warriors and Drillers met for the first time at the varsity level.
The Drillers won the contest at historic Griffith Field in Bakersfield. Prior to 2001,
Warrior varsity teams played Bakersfield High varsity reserves and junior varsity teams from
Bakersfield various times between 1930 and 1956.
Bakersfield High School was founded in 1893 as Kern County High School, changed to Kern County Union
High School in 1915, and finally assumed the name of Bakersfield High School in 1945.
Bakersfield High School was the only high school in Bakersfield until East High School opened in 1937.
Bakersfield has a student population of 2,800. students (2019).
