In CIF Semifinal Playoffs
The Lady Warriors ended a stellar year on the hard court last week in a CIF Division III semifinal loss to Hanford West, 53-33.
Tehachapi (23-6) reached the Division III final four with wins over San Joaquin Memorial 59-56 and Shafter 43-33 in previous playoff contests.
Freshman point guard Dani Peacon led the team in scoring with 12 points and added four steals and three assists. Rheanna Cowee also had a strong game with nine points and 16 rebounds,
while Danielle Simpson had six points and four rebounds.
Alyssa Garcia added four points, four assist and three steals and Briana Gutierrez had a basket in the contest.
Mountain Basketball’s playoff run marked the first time a Lady Warrior basketball team won a playoff game since 2007. It was also the first time THS won two playoff games in a single season since 2005,
when the Lady Warriors defeated Hanford 56-47 and Cesar Chavez 64-50 to reach the CIF championship.
Seniors playing their final season for Tehachapi were Brooke Hurt, Briana Gutierrez, Cedar Parrott, Danielle Simpson, Rheanna Cowee and Alexis Schoenberg.
Coaching the Lady Warriors this season were Renn Amstead and Sheri Dees.
