Warriors Overwhelm Cal City
Basketball Crushes the Ravens at Home, 80-48

The Warriors opened up last week's pre-season contest with Cal City with a 10-0 first quarter lead, never looking back in a 80-48 drubbing at home.

Tehachapi (10-5) had back-to-back three pointers by Isaiah Johnson and Chris Llamas to extend their lead 16-4 in the first quarter, finishing the period up 28-11 and the first half up 46-21.

Virtually every single Warrior in uniform scored on the evening, with Johnson finishing as the leading scorer with 21 points and five first half three-pointers.

Other leaders included Micah Fjeld with 10 points, Dakota Medovitch and Llamas with nine points each, Caeleb Roney with eight points, and Andrew Borst, Jonny Saavedra, Mikey Philips, Gilbert Gutierrez, Thomas Blewett, Phil Baquerizo and Jacob Burt with a combined 23 points.

In junior varsity action, the Braves defeated Cal City 43-13 behind 12 points from Kris Breedlove and 10 points from Jesus Sanchez.

Ryan Kelly also had six points, followed by Andy Smith and Daniel Viselli with five points each, Bryan Cotta with thee points and Daniel Wight with two points.

Tehachapi's varsity, jayvee and frosh-soph squads had a pre-season contest with Frontier this Tuesday, while the jayvee squared off with Rosamond last Friday afternoon. Those highlights will be available in next week's Tehachapi News.

Mountain Basketball will be in action again next Tuesday in the SEYL opener against East. The game against the Blades will start at 6:30 p.m. (varsity), 5:15 p.m (jayvee) and 4 p.m .(frosh-soph).

Lady Warriors Cruise Past Ravens
THS Basketball Rolls To A 65-5 Win Over Cal City

The Lady Warriors nearly held Cal City scoreless in the first half in an eventual 65-5 win last Tuesday in their home opener.

Tehachapi (11-4) built a 34-0 lead in the first half, with Cal City recording their first points with a basket at the 1:30 mark before halftime.

Laney Ricker was the leading scorer for the Lady Warriors with 13 points (three steals), followed by Dani Peacon with 12 points (six steals) and Alyssa Garcia with 10 points (seven rebounds, four steals).

Brooke Boyd also had a strong game with eight rebounds and six points and Daisy Moran had seven points, five steals and four rebounds. Kelsey Vance was also the second leading rebounder on the night with seven boards, also chipping in with four points and three assists.

Shelby Ricker also had five points, five steals and four assists, Lexi Garrett had five steals, four rebounds and three points and Brandi Davidson had seven steals, four points and three assists.

Leja Jakstaite also had three rebounds and two points and Noemi Lorenz had an assist.

Before starting their league schedule, Tehachapi will have a rematch of their first game of the year against Golden Valley this Thursday in Bakersfield, starting at 4 p.m. The contest is a make-up game for the championship of the Golden Valley Invitational, which was postponed due to inclement weather last month. Tehachapi also had an away game against Frontier this past Tuesday and highlights of that game will be available next week.

The league season will start next Tuesday at East Bakersfield, with the varsity scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., right after the jayvee (5:15 p.m.) and frosh-soph (4 p.m.) games.
