The 1935-36 Warriors include, left to right, Pete Errecart, Carney Cleveland, Harley Mason, Roy Freeman,
Earnest Reisinger, Pasqual Valdez, William Weldon, Milton Freeman, and Robert Grind.
The 1935-36 Warriors were coached by John "Ty" Sidener. It would be an eventful season for the first year coach.
According to the Tehachapi News, the Tehachapi school system was closed from Feb. 1-10 (cancelling the Wasco game) due to the scarlet fever epidemic in the San Joaquin Valley.
It was also reported that the season ended early due to the epidemic (cancelling the Shafter and McFarland contests).
In fact, three of the five South Sierra League teams could not finish out the season, with many games canceled during the 1935-36 season.
Maricopa was crowned the league champion in 1936 and advanced to the valley playoffs.
