Mountain Football Defeats BCHS, 35-7
In a tribute to Tomahawk Football last Friday night, the Warriors displayed a business-like performance in front of their young football brothers in a decisive 35-7 victory over Bakersfield Christian.
The offense was clicking and the defense was smothering, and Tehachapi (7-1; 3-0 SSL) iced the game at halftime by building a 21-0 lead. The performance was thanks to offensive line standouts Brent Bernacchi, Andrew Garber, Armando Perez, Joseph Blewett, Andrew Jimenez and Cody Hall, who helped their team rack up 228 yards rushing before the intermission.
Marcus Curiel did most of the offensive damage on the night, picking up 176 yards on 24 carries and scoring four touchdowns. Wyatt Vance also had the game's first score, finishing the contest with 92 yards on the ground.
On defense, Adam Bullard recovered a fumble in the third quarter, while Ty Curry had 55 yards rushing, Christian Terle 55 yards rushing and Dalton Scaggs 40 yards rushing and a perfect 5-5 on point after attempts.
With the win, Tehachapi is now in a first place tie with Wasco in league play and will meet the Tigers on the road this Friday night to decide the SSL championship. The Tigers are coming off a 47-0 win over Arvin and are undefeated through eight games.
The Warriors scored on their first offensive series on a double reverse with just under three minutes remaining
in the first quarter. Pictured above, Warrior Ty Curry took the initial hand off and then dished the ball off to Wyatt Vance
for the seven-yard touchdown. Curry finished the game with 55 yards rushing. Vance added 92 rushing yards to the
