Warriors versus Bishop Broncos
The Warriors and Broncos have played 49 games against each other dating back to the 1930's. Tehachapi holds a slight
one game advantage, 25-24, thanks to a playoff win in 2021. Prior to the 2021 contest, it had been 20 years since the two old rivals had played each other.
Bishop and Garces (as of 2021) are the two opponents the Warriors have played at 49 games apiece.
Over the years, the two schools played some tremendous football games. For many years, Bishop was considered the Warriors long time rival.
Tehachapi joined the Desert-Inyo League (DIL) in 1958 and left after the 1991 season to join the South Sequoia League in the San Joaquin Valley.
During those years Tehachapi was in the DIL, the Warriors claimed 13 league championships; and next was Bishop with 10 championships.
As Tehachapi High School started growing in student population, the Warriors began to dominate games, winning 17 of the last 18 games played.
After Tehachapi left the DIL in 1991, the two schoools tried to revive the rivalry with non-league games between 1998 and 2001,
but Tehachapi easily won those four contests; thus ending the scheduling of games between the two schools.
Bishop High School is located at 301 North Fowler Street in Bishop, CA.
The school currently has an enrollment of roughly 600 students (2021).
