BAKERSFIELD - The Warriors waded through a flood of penalties Friday, en route to the non-league victory at Foothill High.
Tehachapi, which was penalized 12 times for 116 yards, scored three touchdowns in the first quarter despite the early penalty setbacks.
Tanner Hutchinson had two touchdowns and Tony Troffer added a 56-yard run to give the Warriors an early 20-0 lead.
"We felt, penalty-wise, we took a step back this week," said Steve Denman, Tehachapi head coach. "Last week we had very few penalties and this week we had a ton of them. We just can't survive like that."
Foothill attacked in the air and scored right before the end of the first half on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Dan Ingle to Michael Valdovinos.
The Trojans continued to push the air game in the second half, scoring 14-points, but the Warriors continued their persistence on the ground with touchdowns from A.J. Barcelona and David Lara.
"We had a difficult time with our assignments," said Foothill coach Scott Douglas. "It is important for us to see how things should be executed and learn from that."
