TEHACHAPI -- Derek Crockett caught two touchdown passes, and Deonta Nard added two touchdowns -- on a pass and run -- to help lead Golden Valley to a 30-26 victory Friday over Tehachapi and the South Sequoia League title.
With Arvin's victory over Taft, the Bulldogs (7-3, 4-1 SSL) won their first league title in only its second year of varsity play.
"This really puts us on the map," Golden Valley coach Tim Hartnett said. "For our school out there (in south Bakersfield) to win a league title in only our second year that's huge. We are getting a big following. I'm really happy about it. I give all the credit to my kids and the coaching staff."
Quarterback Bobby Hinzo led the passing attack for the Bulldogs with 166 yards on 11-25 passing, throwing for three touchdowns, giving the junior 20 touchdown passes on the year.
Gabe Bressler led the Warriors (4-6, 2-3) with 106 yards on 18 carries.
