The Warriors turned in an impressive performance on defense in their final pre-season game before league, forcing nine turnovers
in a 41-7 victory over Visalia-Golden West.
Overall as a team, Tehachapi (6-0) recorded 39 quarterback hurries, which helped set up the secondary for a seven-interception
tally on the night with Kaleb Songer (three), Jacob Betancourt (two), Karson Tiewater and Andrew Aguirre all recording picks.
Aguirre returned his interception 52 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.Michael Garza and Cyler Hoofard recovered fumbles to account for the other turnovers.
Standouts on defense included Leo Gonzalez (14 tackles, eight hurries, two sacks, punt block, fumble caused), Mike Jones (14 tackles, fumble caused),
Aguirre (14 tackles, two passes defensed, interception), Liddon Scott (eight tackles), AJ Anderson (seven tackles), Nicholson Jr. (six tackles, four hurries, sack),
Betancourt (five tackles, two interceptions, pass defensed), Ruben Sedano (five tackles), Tanner Gary (12 hurries, sack), Songer (three interceptions,
pass defensed, fumble caused), Karson Tiewater (four tackles, two passes defensed, interception) and Adrian Navarro (six hurries).
Offensively, Anderson (111 yards), Tiewater (96 yards) and Jones (41 yards) all had good nights in the ground game and each had a
touchdown run, while Hoofard hauled in a 29-yard touchdown reception from Jacob Root.
On special teams, Anderson had a 69-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
According to thswarriors.com, the victory marks the first time since the 2000 season that a Warrior football team has
started the year with a 6-0 record.
Up next for Tehachapi is the start of the South Yosemite Mountain League season, opening on the road at South this Friday night.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Underclassmen Football Lose To The Trailblazers
The junior varsity Warriors lost in a high-scoring contest against Golden West last week in a 38-28 decision.
Cayden King had a standout game for the Warriors with 217 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns and Kaidon Hagerty also
had a strong night with 136 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Colton Michael threw for 95 yards and two touchdowns and had 52 yards rushing.br>
Defensively, leading the way was Jacob Meza with 15 tackles and a fumble recovery, followed by Hagerty (14 tackles),
JR Alaniz (eight tackles, fumble recovery), King (six tackles, two passes defended), Emmett Williams (six tackles, fumble recovery),
Gabriel Perez (four tackles), Anthony Reilley (four tackles), Liam Smith (four tackles) and Tylere Lombardi (two fumble recoveries, blocked punt).
Aiden Madueno and Ezekiel Meza both recorded sacks.
Ethan Cardenas went a perfect 4-4 on point-after-attempts on special teams.< br>
The JV Warriors will next be in action this Friday afternoon at South, with a kickoff set for 5 p.m.
The Frosh-Soph Warriors lost 28-6 at home to Golden West. Paxton Schulze scored a goal line touchdown for Tehachapi
in the first half. The next game for the frosh-soph will be this Wednesday on the road at Foothill with a kickoff set for 6 p.m.

Tehachapi 41 Golden West (Visalia) 7
Tehachapi, which lost at home to Golden West 34-13 last season after starting 5-0, turned the tables on the Trailblazers
and stayed perfect behind a dominant defensive performance that produced seven interceptions and nine turnovers overall.
Kaleb Songer had three interceptions, Jacob Betancourt had two, and Karson Tiewater and Andrew Aguirre added one apiece.
Aguirre’s interception was returned 52 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Mike Jones, Leo Gonzalez and Aguirre each had 14 tackles, and Michael Garza and Cyler Hoofard each had fumble recoveries
to account for the other turnovers.
Offensively, AJ Anderson led the way with 202 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including a 69-yard kickoff return for a score.
Anderson, Jacob Root, Jones and Tiewater all combined for 248 yards on the ground and each had a rushing touchdown.
Root also threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Hoofard.
