Great news for Warrior fans in that Ogilvie Bowl III between Garces and Tehachapi this Friday night will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN 1230 AM Bakersfield radio. The ESPN 1230 game-of-the week will be played in Tehachapi at historic Coy Burnett Field. Bring your radio to the game to enjoy the play-by-play of announcer, and former THS alum, Corey Costelloe. Game time is 7:30 pm.

After a successful multiple-decade-long run on sister station KERN Newstalk 1180, the High School Football Game of the Week is moving to 1230 ESPN beginning with the 2010 season.

“We had a great opportunity to move these community-favorite broadcasts over to a local sports station and it was something we couldn’t pass up,” said Costelloe, play-by-play voice and Program Director at 1230 ESPN. “KERN has been great over the years but the possibility of what we can do with these games on a sports format is tremendous.”

Costelloe will return to the broadcast booth for his 8th season calling the ‘Game of the Week.’ He’ll be joined by Michael Hopper returning for his second season providing color commentary.

ESPN 1230 will also expand pre-game coverage with an hour-long studio show. Beginning at 6:00 pm fans will hear interviews, previews, predictions and updates from the all over the valley. Depending on start times, the pre game coverage will then shift to the broadcast booth on location at 7:00 pm before a scheduled 7:30 kickoff.
