Mountain Football Preps For New Year
Warriors Start Early For Upcoming Fall Season

A strong mix of returning starters with a talented batch of underclassmen should make the Warriors a contender again in the upcoming 2012 fall season.

Tehachapi recently wrapped up spring practice this past month at the high school, with over 60 players out for the varsity squad.

Coming back to assume quarterback duties will be Bobby Howell and talented speed back Jorge Garcia will return from a knee injury suffered last summer. Garcia looks poised to not miss a beat from an impressive sophomore year in 2010.

Returning Warriors from last season include Dalton Scaggs, Bobby Howell, Anthony Napolis, Ian Neufeld, Jorge Garcia, Robert Moore, Barry Jones, Austin Riddle, Ryan Flick, Ryle Snowder, Bryan O'Donnell, Blake Panek, Andrew Garber, Michael Llamas, Sam Ray, Logan Smith, Jose Meza, Kiefer Fincher, Andrew Jimenez, Kyle Parks,Bobby Sharp, Skylar Valencia, Micah Fjeld, Steven Cross, Christian Terle, Ty Curry, Joseph Blewett, Dylan Smith, David Carter, Trey Abarquez and Ethan Averett.

The Warriors will also look to fill the void of departed seniors with talented players from last year's jayvee team and new upperclassmen. Looking to contribute to the Warriors this season are Joseph Barba, Alex Barnes, Donaven Bruce, Ben Buckley, Paul Canazzi, Sean Casey, Adam Confer, Greg Dodge, Jeremy Duff, Nathan Evans, Justin Handy, Caleab Hutto, Isaiah Hutto, Austin James, Tyler Kroeger, Dakota Medovitch, Zach Minton, Trevor Newton, Steven Nielsen, Noah Owens, Chris Perez, Rocky Radcliff, Chris Rhodes, Matt Root, Josiah Snowder, Logan Soto, Nic Steele, Cody Timm, Camden Weathers and Tyree White.

Tehachapi will be holding practices and camps throughout the summer. There will also be fundraising opportunities for the community to help the team offset equipment and uniform expenses for next fall.


Upcoming Events for Mountain Football

National Offensive-Defensive Football Camp - The Warriors will be hosting the National Offensive-Defensive Football Camp, hosted by Princeton Defensive Coordinator Steve Verbit. The Football Camp this year will be at THS on Jun.15-17. The Warriors have been one of the few host schools nationwide six of the past seven years. Camp attendees this year will include San Dimas, South-Bakersfield, Bakersfield Christian and Farmersville along with Tehachapi High.

Weight Training - Tehachapi will be holding workouts in the gym weight room for the varsity (6 a.m.) and junior varsity/freshmen (5 p.m.) starting on Monday, Jun.11 and going through Thursday, July 26. Weight training will be Monday through Thursday each week.

Summer Practice - Summer Practice officially starts on Monday, Jul.30. Varsity will practice in the morning (6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.) and evening (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.), while the jayvee and freshmen teams will practice in the evening (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.).

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser - Mayor Ed Grimes will be graciously volunteering his time and efforts to help the Warriors, Braves and Indian teams fundraise for equipment needs with a Fourth-of-July Pancake Breakfast held annually at the City Park. Tickets are $5 and will be sold every Thursday at the Farmer's Market by football players and Mayor Grimes. Please purchase a pancake breakfast ticket and support Mountain Football.
