Released By THS Athletic Director
The Tehachapi Warriors athletic department has released the 2024 football schedule. The schedule features 10 regular season games,
six games at home and four games away. The 2024 schedule has a few new changes with
Bakersfield Christian and Golden Valley added to the slate of games, replacing Arvin and Highland.
The Warriors are coming off a historic season winning their first eleven games in 2203 before losing
to eventual CIF section champ CVC-Visalia. The Warriors had an encouraging spring practice featuring a number of
returning players from the 2023 varsity. The Warriors will also see a number of skilled players
moving up from the championship junior varsity team.
The Warriors open the season on the road, playing Burroughs High School of Ridgecrest on August 23.
Tehachapi has dominated the series in recent years winning 42-14 in 2023; 52-0 in 2022;
and 48-6 in 2021. Tehachapi leads the overall series 18-12 in games
played dating back to 1947.
Perhaps the toughest game on the schedule is Week 2 when the Warriors play host to Bakersfield Christian.
BCHS leads the overall series 6-5, including five straight wins over the Warriors. BCHS won 41-19 in 2021;
and 64-0 in 2019, the worst loss in school history. In 2023, BCHS finished 6-5 overall;
and 4-0 in league play capturing the championship in the Southwest Yosemite Valley League.
Week 3 will be at home against Taft, a team the Warriors defeated 60-0 last season. Taft finished the 2023
season at 5-7 overall; 2-4 in league play. In the modern era, dating back to 1990,
the Warriors hold a 17-8 edge in games played.
Week 4 is an away game at Wasco on September 13. The Warriors lead the overall series with
the Wildcats, 27-14, in a rivalry that dates back to the 1930's. Tehachapi played a strong
game and toppled Wasco 25-6 in 2023. The Tigers finished the 2023 season at 9-6 overall; 4-2
in league play. Wasco went on to win the D-V championship reeling off three straight wins and
then advanced to the second round of the State playoffs.
Tehachapi enjoys a bye in Week 5.
Week 6, the final non-league game before league play begins, finds the Warriors hosting Golden West of Visalia
on September 27. Tehachapi leads the overall series 2-1, whipping the Trailblazers 41-7 in 2023; however,
the Warriors lost to Golden West 13-34 in 2022. Golden West finished the 2023 season 3-8;
3-2 in South Yosemite League play.
"Mountain League" play then begins on October 4 at East Bakersfield. The season then continues with league games
against North, West, and South. The Warriors also have a non league game October 25 against Golden Valley (Bakersfield).
