Coach Albert "Corky" Roberts ended his three year stint as the Warrior head coach on a high note,
as the 1963 team won a Tri-Championship in the Desert-Inyo League. The 63' gridders finished with a
6-1 league record; 7-3 overall. The Warriors shared the league crown with Bishop and Desert (Edwards AFB).

The Warriors played host to McFarland in the opening game of the season. McFarland scored the first two TD's of the game,
and then held on to defeat Tehachapi, 18-7. Joel Garcia scored the Warrior TD on an 18 yard interception return play (Capdeville PAT kcik).

In Week 2, the Warriors defeated Burroughs of Ridgecrest by a 14-6 count. Bob Barrera scored the first TD diving two yards
for the TD (Capdeville PAT kick). Joel Garcia scored the second Tehachapi TD on a short run play, set up
by a Don Ward fumble recovery (Capdeville PAT kick).

The Warriors won their DIL opener in Week 3 by thoroughly controlling Mojave, 18-6. The scoring included a Tex White
fumble recovery in the end zone, after a Garcia fumble on a short run play; Capdeville hit Art Gaeta twice on TD pass plays of 8 and 12 yards.

At The Pit in Trona, Larry Souza gathered in John Capdeville's 12 yard pass to secure the game winning TD
in the final minute of the game. The Warriors won the Week 4 thriller, 26-20, improving to 3-1 for the season.
The scoring included a Capdeville 70 yard punt return for a TD (Capdeville to Barrera PAT); a Capdeville 4 yard TD run;
and a Garcia 3 yard diver play (Capdeville PAT kick).

In a Week 5 contest, the Warriors shutout the Desert Scorpions, 7-0. Fullback Lester White scored the only TD of the game
in the second quarter on a short run play (Capdeville PAT kick). Tehachapi held off a furious Desert rally in the
final minute of play when the Scorpions got within 5 yards of the goal line.

In the biggest game of the season, the Warriors traveled to Bishop and lost 6-2 in a defensive battle.

In Week 7, Tehachapi returned to the win column with a solid 26-0 blanking of Boron. Garcia scored 2 TD's,
Bill Freeman and Capdeville scored 1 TD apiece.

The Warriors wrapped up a league title by defeating Lone Pine, 20-6. White scored on a 4 yard run play
(Souza to Capdeville PAT); Souza launched a bomb and found White in the end zone on a 40 yard pass play (Capdeville to
Garcia PAT); and Souza closed out the scoring with a 30 yard strike play to Capdeville.

Kern Valley forfeited the final league game of the season to Tehachapi, forcing the Warriors into a contest
with Bishop to see which school would advance to the CIF Southern Section playoffs. In the playoff game,
on the mountain, the Warriors were embarrased by Bishop, 33-0.

John Capdeville, the Most Valuable Player of the entire Desert-Inyo League, led the Warriors by rushing for 583 yards,
scoring 5 TD's and 8 PAT's. He was also the spark plug on defense from his defensive back position.
Junior quarterback Larry Souza also contributed with 557 yards passing, while receiver Lester "Tex" White (4 TD's) and junior
Joel Garcia (5 TD's) also contributed throughout the season on offense.

Seniors Capdeville and White were named the Most Valuable Players of the team by the coaching staff.
