Warriors Win 11 Games In 1986
2nd Place Finish in DIL

The 1986 Warriors fell one game short of returning to the CIF Southern Section finals. The 1986 team finished the season with an
impressive 11-2 season record; 4-1 in league play.

Behind a stingy defense, and an ever improving offense, the Warriors blew through the non-league schedule by blanking Morro Bay, 15-0;
crushing Rosamond, 35-0; outgunning Wasco, 31-17; topping Shafter, 21-0; and nipping rival Garces, 7-6.

In league play, the Warriors shutout Desert 12-0 behind the impressive running of Shawn Robinson. In the KV game,
quarterback Norman Villanueva passed for 137 yards, and the running of Robinson and William Richardson led to a 28-3 route of he Broncos.

The BIG game of the season brought the undefeated Bishop Broncos to the mountain for the anticipated league championship showdown.
In a tense game from start to finish, the Broncos defeated the Warriors, 9-8. Bishop would go on to an undefeated regular season as the DIL champions.

The Warriors would win their final two league games by defeating Paraclete, 14-0, and outmanning Mojave, 45-13.

The Warriors entered the CIF playoffs as the #2 team from the DIL. In the first round, the Warriors traveled to the nuetral site of
Burroughs High School in Ridgcrest to face the Trona Tornadoes. The balanced attack of Robinson running (100 yds. rushing)
and Villanueva passing (9-17, 177 passing yds.) led to a 28-0 Warrior victory.

In round 2, again on the road, the Warriors traveled to Whittier Christian. Again, the balanced attack of an efficient Warrior
offense and a tough defense led to a convincing 27-7 win.

The most exciting game of the year was in round 3 of the playoffs in Tehachapi. The Warriors played host to Valley Christian of Cerritos.
The game ended in a 14-14 tie --- and in overtime, Cerritos won the game in dramatic fashion.

Running back Shawn Robinson finished the regular season with 1,090 yards rushing in 192 carries, scoring 7 TD's. For the season (13 games),
