Warriors Crush Shafter, 41-7

TEHACHAPI -- Four different Warriors scored five times in the first half to totally control the game and dominate the Shafter Generals Friday on Coy Burnett Field.

With a 34-0 lead at the break, the entire Warrior squad saw action and went on to defeat the Generals 41-7. The victory improves the Warriors’ South Sequoia League record to 3-1 with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Warriors scored on their first offensive drive that began at the 23. Sean Finley was impressive, picking up first down conversions at will as he rushed for 67 yards on five carries to set up Zack Schlais from the five-yard line and the Warriors' first TD of the game. Kicker Stefan Wulf added the PAT. Wulf finished the game with three successful PATs in six attempts.

Shafter went three and out on their first possession, punting from their 33-yard line. The Warriors then resumed their offensive jag, capping a 57-yard drive when Finely scored on a four-yard run. Matt Deger added another six points to the THS scoreboard in the second quarter. Finely was key to the drives when he covered 53 yards in one run to set up the Warriors and Deger at the Shafter 13. Finley ended the game with 185 yards rushing. The Warriors tallied 505 yards in the game.

Dan Haycock added the next two TDs for Tehachapi. Haycock scored from the 13 and from the 27, finishing the game with 65 yards rushing.

Shafter managed to break the shutout in the third quarter on their best drive of the game. The Warriors answered in the fourth when Paul Abarquez ran in a 30-yard TD. Abarquez finished the game with 67 yards rushing, including runs of 30 and 23 yards.

Tyler Hansen was the starting quarterback. He completed one of two passes for eight yards.

The Warrior defense was led by Trenton Pera, who was credited with nine tackles. Taliulu finished game with five tackles and Greg Harrod saw action in the fourth, making a pair of tackles.
