Inspired by the homecoming festivities, Mountain Football opened their contest with Shafter running on all cylinders, executing near-perfect offense and defense to record their second straight shutout of the season in a 43-0 victory.
Marcus Curiel scored the first two touchdowns of the evening, starting what would be two of five consecutive scoring drives for the Warriors. Curiel ended the contest in the first half with 54 yards rushing, while Phil Rhodes had 66 yards on 10 carries.
After Curiel’s two scores, the Warriors opened the floodgates in the second quarter. Levi Garrett found Cory Lange on a 45-yard touchdown reception, and Brian Castaneda scored on an 18-yard end-around to help Tehachapi go up 28-0 at halftime.
Garrett went 2-4 in the game for 98 yards, hooking up with Travis Farewell on another completion for 53 yards. Along with his catch, Farewell also finished the contest with five extra point attempts and three touchbacks on kickoffs.
With the game seemingly on ice at the halfway point, the Generals attempted to breathe life into the game with an onside kick to start the third quarter.
The attempt failed when Cesar Meza fell on the ball at midfield, and the Warriors needed just one play to score their fifth touchdown of the night when Jorge Garcia reached the endzone on an impressive 46 yard run.
On defense, Austin Scarbrough highlighted the night with a tackle for a safety in the fourth quarter, while sacks came from Cameron King, David Lara, Cory Lange, Aaron Ghiassy, John Porter and Donovan Brown.
Michael Lowder also scored Tehachapi's first special teams touchdown of the year on a 68-yard kickoff return. Lowder also had 47 yards on the ground on four carries to help Tehachapi to 301 rushing yards overall.
In the second half, Skyler Stephens, Michael Perez, Bobby Cooley and Wyatt Vance all combined for 74 yards rushing to pace the offense.
