Mustangs Run Past Warriors, 20-0
Stockdale High's football team put together three impressive scoring drives, each time starting inside its own 25-yard line Friday night.
Stockdale (2-2) compiled over 300 yards on the ground, controlling the clock and the line of scrimmage. It was the Mustangs' home opener, and it also turned out to be Kenny Shanahan's comeback game.
Shanahan, in his first game back after missing two games with a foot injury, rushed for 182 yards on 18 carries, and played a major role in all three scores.
Ed Webber scored on a 14-yard burst, and ran for 115 yards on 17 carries. Tyler Skeels gave the Warriors poor field position every time he kicked off, three times resulting in touchbacks. Stockdale played stingy defense, picking off 3 passes, and containing the run all night.
All three interceptions ended long Warrior drives deep into Stockdale territory. Tehachapi played physical defense as well, forcing two early fumbles, but couldn't seem to capitalize and put points on the board.
Stockdale was penalized 16 times for 150 yards, but the two work-horses, Shanahan and Webber outran the yellow flags with thirteen double-digit gains. Gabe Bressler led Tehachapi with 53 yards, carrying the ball 15 times. The Warriors fell to 2-2.
