TEHACHAPI -- Tehachapi took advantage of seven turnovers and rolled to a 35-12 non-league homecoming victory Friday over Stockdale.
Stockdale fumbled on the first play from scrimmage on a botched exchange and Tehachapi's Garrett Coontz recovered at the Stockdale 26-yard line. The Warriors later scored on a 1-yard run by Gabe Bressler.
Stockdale tied it 6-6 on Tyler Cottrell's 45-yard TD catch from punter Justin Thatcher on a fake punt play.
Trailing 14-6, the Mustangs (0-4) suffered another costly turnover when quarterback Brian Anderson was upended. The ball bounced right into the hands of Josh Schulgen, who raced 71 yards for a Tehachapi touchdown with 8:24 left in the first half.
Stockdale drew within 21-12 on a 10-yard pass from Anderson to Cottrell. But Louis James ran for a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to ice the game for the Warriors (2-2).
Stockdale's Kenny Shanahan did not play.
