TAFT--With just 41 seconds left in the game, Dalton Botts connected with Nate Newcomer on a 30-yard fourth quarter touchdown pass to lead Taft to a hard-fought 7-6 victory over Tehachapi on Friday.
Botts completed 7-of-17 passes for 53 yards, and he rushed for 62 yards to lead the Wildcats.
With the game scoreless at halftime, and points coming at a premium, Tehachapi got on the board in the third quarter on a 1-yard touchdown plunge by Josh Strauss.
But the Warriors (3-3, 0-1 SSL) missed their extra point after the touchdown, and held a precarious 6-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Newcomer finished with 5 catches for 54 yards for the Wildcats (5-1, 1-0 SSL).
