WASCO – Tehachapi came out of the gates lethargic in two straight three-and-outs, but a surge in the second quarter helped the Warriors turn up the intensity in a 34-6 win on the road.
Kelly Lorenz and Adam Mullen rushed for 117 and 105 yards respectively to lead Tehachapi (8-1; 4-0 SSL) in a punishing ground game, with each running back also adding second quarter scores.
Josh Strauss clinched the Warrior win with touchdowns of 25 and 5 yards in the second-half, while Will Clark took his first handoff of the night 54 yards for a fourth quarter touchdown to help the Warriors to 342 total rushing yards on the night.
Franky Rodriguez had a fumble recovery and an interception and Josh Schulgen also had an interception for the Warriors.
For Wasco (4-5; 1-3 SSL), D’abrae Dugan had 113 yards on 28 carries and Christian Gonzalez scored on the Tigers final drive in the fourth quarter on a three yard run.
Tehachapi, who has already clinched at least a share of the SSL title, can win the championship outright with a victory against Bakersfield Christian (8-1; 3-1 SSL) next Friday.
