Faxanadu was first released in 1989 by Hudson Soft for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a side-scrolling adventure along the lines of Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link and Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest.

Faxanadu boasts good play control, graphics, and a good story. The music is also very good, and it is also thankfully fairly easy and short, perfect for playing for a few days or so.
