Found this in the curent (August 1998) issue of the British magazine “Uncut”. I make the point of mentioning that it’s British (but does it have honour and character?) because it is, to date, the only mention of Dave’s tours in the US I have seen in a British publication...well, getting praise over here when he hasn’t even toured here yet, has to be good doesn’t it? :-)

“It was The Week Of The Liberated Second Bananas in New York when ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler and long-suffering Kink, Dave Davies, made superb solo appearances within days of each other...”...piece on Butler... “ “This is the part of the show where I read you extracts from my book,” Dave Davies said two nights later at The Bottom Line, taking a not-so-subtle poke at his older brother Ray’s recent story telling shows. In fact, the younger Davies let his songs, singing and guitar do the talking in one of a series of highly acclaimed gigs that he’s been doing Stateside in the past year.

Unlike Ray, Dave has been going deep into The Kinks’ rich catalogue and, at The Bottom Line, fronting a young trio equal to the tunes and the task, he rescued B-sides, forgotten album jewels and obscure solo sides like “She’s Got Everything”, “Picture Book”, “I’m Not Like Everybody Else”, “Creeping Jean” and “Milk Cow Blues” with great fervour and that distinctive high-tension whine.

But just to prove he’s not sitting around, waiting for a Kinks reunion, Davies is selling a tour CD combining Eighties solo tracks with four brand new recordings- a limited-edition prelude to the first official, comprehensive Dave Davies anthology, a two-disc set, due on the Velvel label this autumn.”
