Three days later they gathered at Oscar’s house for Dan’s birthday. The twins were tired and called it a night early.
While Dan and his friends talked about school and how they had done on their finals
Oscar, Rudy, Jaime and Steve sat talking.
“I can’t believe all three of them are a year older than they were when the came to live with me. And I can’t believe that it’s going on a year.” Oscar commented
They heard laughter from the other room as Dan and his friends talked about school and their teachers.
“You know, maybe I’m doing the twins an injustice by home schooling them. Maybe when school starts back up I’ll…”
“Oscar you live in town again. The neighborhood is full of kids the twins are bound to make friends.” Steve reminded him.
“Yea, maybe your right.” Oscar agreed. “I think I’ll leave it just as it is”
The next morning Oscar was backing out of his drive. A young boy rode his bike in a circle between Oscar’s drive and the drive across the street. Oscar had to stop to avoid hitting him.
The boy rode up to the driver’s window. “What can I do for you son?” Oscar asked
“Did you just move in there?” The boy pointed to Oscar’s house.
“I did.” Oscar responded
The boy tilted his head “You got kids?” The boy asked.
“As a matter of fact I do. I have four boys, five, eight and twelve.” Oscar informed him. The boy looked to be around eight.
He started counting on his fingers “That’s only three.” The boy said.
“The eight year olds are twins.” Oscar explained.
“My name is Teddy. Teddy Grimes. I live right there.” He pointed to the house across the street
“Hang on a minute son.” Oscar drove back up the drive “Ralph have Minnie send Marc and Matt down.”
A few minutes later the twins appeared at the front gate. “Boys, this is Teddy. He lives across the street. Teddy, this is Marc and Matt. I hope you guys have fun today.”
Oscar got in his car he watched as the three of them raced up the street on their bikes.
‘Maybe things will be all right now. Maybe he won’t be so dependent on Steve now.’ Oscar thought as he continued on to the office…
”Jaime! Come on hurry I want to make it to Pennsylvania by late afternoon. I also want to stop by Oscar’s and say good bye to the kids.”
“I’m coming I’m ready. It won’t take us that long to get to Oscar’s” Jaime climbed into the seat beside him.
“Well School is out and we need to go on our honeymoon.” Steve sounded anxious. “I told you. I want to spend some time alone with you before the baby comes.”
“Yea I know.” They drove on into Bethesda to Oscar’s new house. Rudy was loading up his own car to take Marc and Matt on a trip of their own.
“I thought the two of you would be long gone by now.” Rudy stated.
“Yea well I just wanted to say bye to Marc. Where is he?”
“He’s playing in the back with that new friend of theirs. I think his name is Teddy.”
Steve headed for the back yard. “Hey Marc. Come here a minute.” Steve called.
Marc climbed down off the swing set and walked over to Steve. “You’re sure you’re ok with my going away?”
Marc nodded. “Yea I guess so Steve. You and Jaime have a good time. Rudy is taking Matt and I fishing.” Marc proclaimed as he climbed back on top of the swing set joining Matt and Teddy.
Steve walked off feeling a little dejected. He turned back around in time to see the three boys whispering to one another then burst out laughing.
“I guess he doesn’t need me anymore.” Steve sighed to himself.
He walked over to where Jaime, Rudy and Oscar stood talking. “You ok Steve?” Oscar asked reading the look on his face.
“Yea. I guess I’m ok. Marc seems to get along just fine with out me.”
“Well I’m not so sure about that. Marc still needs you. But I do have to admit this was the best move I’ve made so far. The twins actually have friends. Not a night has gone by that I haven’t come home to a yard full of kids.” Oscar explained. “But Marc still needs you. Don’t let him fool you.”
“Fool me?’ Steve gave him a puzzled look.
“He wants you and Jaime to have a good time. But he was still a little nervous about your leaving. Plus Rudy has this trip planned for them. That has really helped. Otherwise I’m afraid Marc may have been very upset.” Oscar admitted.
“Really?” Steve gave a smile.
“Yes really but you didn’t hear that from me. Well you all better get going.”
“Yea” Rudy said “I want to make the lodge by dinner.”
Oscar watched as both cars headed down the long circular driveway. “Well Joey, Dan I guess it’s just us for a few days.” The three of them went into the house.
Steve and Jaime got to Philadelphia. They checked into the hotel and freshened up before they went out for dinner.
“This is nice.” Steve said as he and Jaime entered the restaurant. It was nice for a change to sit down in a restaurant that had cloth tablecloths rather than either none or paper. It seemed like every time they went out to eat they were with Oscar and the kids.
“Yes this is very nice.” Jaime exclaimed as the maître d' showed them to their table. “Sure beats yelling into a clowns face to tell him what you want to eat.” She laughed as the sat down.
The maître d' handed them menus and they spent several minutes looking at it. “I just can’t make up my mind.” Jaime admitted it’s between the Shrimp and the steak.”
“Why don’t you get the shrimp, and I’ll get the Steak. Then we can have a little of each others.” Steve suggested.
“I was just about to suggest that myself.” Jaime smiled.
The waiter came over and the ordered their meals.
“This is really quite good.” Jaime said looking into Steve’s eyes. They were very distant.
“Still thinking about Marc?” She questioned.
Steve shook his head. “No. I think I recognize someone.” He stated as he continued to stare across the room
“Better not be an old girl friend or your libel to wish you had ordered that steak rare.” Jaime teased.
“No, no. Nothing like that.” Steve was staring so hard he made Jaime turn around to see if she to recognized the person. She didn’t.
“Steve are you sure you recognize him?” Jaime asked.
Steve continued to stare. “No Jaime I’m not. He just looks familiar that’s all.” Steve explained.
They finished their meal and decided to go sightseeing. After walking around the City of Brotherly Love for a while they stopped at a sidewalk café to have a cup of coffee before going back to their hotel room for the night.
They sat sipping their coffee when once again Steve zoomed in on the man sitting not two tables away from them.
“Steve. What’s wrong?” Jaime asked turning in the direction he was looking. “It’s him again, isn’t it? That is really strange.”
“Yea I know. I know who he is now too.” Steve sighed.
“Well let me know.” Jaime whispered.
“Do you remember a couple of months back when Oscar thought Dan was a security leak?” Steve whispered.
Jaime nodded.
“That is one of the men on the other end of the transmitting devise they put in Dan’s watch. I believe his name was Hector.”
“I thought he was supposed to be in jail.” Jaime noted.
“Yea. Me to. Let’s get back to the hotel and call Oscar.” They stood and Steve left money for the two coffees plus a generous tip. They walked back to the hotel together.
“I wonder what he wants.” Steve said as they made their way across the lobby of the hotel.
“I would hate to find out what else he heard when they listened in on the conversations.” Jaime shuddered.
“I know. Dan wore that watch everywhere.” Steve proclaimed when he pushed the elevator button.
They both stepped on the elevator and rode up to the floor where their room was.
Steve unlocked the door and they both entered “I’ll call Oscar right now.” Steve said sitting in the chair by the phone.
In Bethesda, Oscar picked up the phone “Hello.” He sounded a little nervous. He couldn’t figure who would be calling this time of night at his home.
“Oscar it’s Steve. I need you to do a check for me. I need you to check if Hector and Agee are still in prison.”
“Why. What’s the matter pal?” Oscar asked.
“I think I saw one of them here in Philadelphia “ Steve told him holding on to Jaime.
“I’ll check on it and get right back to you. Don’t make a move until I call back.” Oscar demanded. “If they are out it could mean trouble. I don’t know how much they heard when they listened to our conversations. I know Dan had that watch here at home. Let me check on it.” He hung up and dialed the number of the Federal Pen just outside of DC.
“What did Oscar say?” Jaime asked when he hung up the phone.
“He said to sit tight. He’ll look into it for us.” Steve sat on the edge of the bed with Jaime. “Well so much for the honeymoon.”
“It might not be that bad. Maybe he just looks like Hector.” Jaime tried to reassure her self as well. “Maybe the ‘real’ Hector is still in prison.”
“Yea, but if not I’m sure Agee is out too.” Steve surmised.
“Well let’s hope we’re wrong.” Jaime put her arm around him. “Steve, what if they know about us. Our bionics and what if they know about the baby. I mean I wouldn’t mind if it we an ordinary baby, but I am going to give birth to my husband.”
“Yea I know. I hope they don’t know about that. Dan could be in danger.” Steve stated
They sat on the bed waiting for Oscar to call back.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
In Bethesda Oscar screamed into the phone. “Why didn’t someone inform me of this?” He slammed the phone down then lifted the receiver and dialed the number in Philadelphia
Steve picked it up on the first ring. “Oscar”
“Yea Steve it’s me. You are not mistaken it is Hector. He and his partner Agee escaped from prison a week ago.”
“I knew it.” Steve turned to Jaime. Then covered the mouthpiece of the phone. “It’s him.”
“Steve? Are you still there?” Oscar asked.
“Yea Oscar we’re here.”
“I want the two of you to get back here on the double. Do you hear me? Get back here right now. I don’t know what those two are up to. But if they are following you and Jaime they must have something planned.”
“Oscar I refuse to be intimidated.” Steve spoke back to him. “Now I came here for a good time and to get to know my wife again. That’s what I’m going to do.” He hung up.
Oscar stared at the phone. “I hate it when he does that.” Oscar muttered to himself.
“What’s wrong dad?” Dan asked.
Oscar told him what was going on.
“Wow. I remember those two.” Dan sat back and tried to remember what had been said during the time
“What did Oscar say?” Jaime asked after Steve slammed down the phone.
“He wants us to come back to DC.” Steve told her. “I told him that we wouldn’t be intimidated.
“Well I agree with that.” Jaime started. “But I do have our baby clone to think about. What if they know?”
“Well if they do. Dan is in more danger than we are. Now if they know about our bionics, that’s another story.” Steve continued.
“They could know about both.” Jaime reminded. “Lord knows what they know.” She sighed.
Oscar looked at Dan. “What are you so heavy in thought about?”
“I’m trying to remember exactly what was said here and at work while I had the stupid watch they gave me.” Dan stated.
“Did you ever mention anything about their bionics?”
“That’s what I’m trying to remember.” Dan sighed.

At the fishing lodge just out side Baltimore Rudy had just put the twins to bed. They were very excited about fishing the next day.
Rudy was just sitting down for the first time since they had arrived he was looking forward to reading a book he had brought. He no more got sat down when a knock come to the door. Grumbling he stood to answer it.
He was shocked when he opened the door and Agee stood on the other side.
“Good evening Dr. Wells We are most interested in you research on bionics.”
Rudy tried to close the door but Agee forced his way in.
‘Marc.’ Rudy whispered ‘Take Matt and go out your bedroom window. Don’t ask questions just do it. Go down to the office and call your dad. Tell him there’s trouble. Tell him there is a man here by the name of Agee. He’ll know all about it.’
Marc quietly woke Matt up and the two of them slipped out the window and made there way to the lodge’s main office.
Marc quickly called their house.
Oscar picked it up. “Steve don’t ever hang up on me…”
“Dad. It’s Marc.” Marc cried into the phone.
“Marc what is it?” Oscar felt he didn’t need three guesses Agee was there.
“Rudy told us to call you some guy named Agee showed up at the lodge. Rudy made Matt and I come to the office of the lodge and call you.”
“Ok I’ll send someone to get you tow Stay in the lodge do you hear me?”
“Yea dad. “ Marc hung up and told Matt they had to wait for someone to come get them and they were to stay put.
Russ showed up two hours later. He put the twins in his car and headed for the room they were staying in. Of course Rudy was not there.
Russ called Oscar. “Rudy is gone Oscar.” He reported.
“I figured that would happen. I’m sure they will all meet up together. Are the twins with you?”
“Yea their safe.” Russ explained.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“Well I’ve had just about enough excitement for one day.” Jaime proclaimed. I’m going to bed. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.”
”Yea I agree.” Steve stood to lock the door. Just as he headed back across the room the phone rang. Steve picked it up and listened then hung up and turned to Jaime.
“Steve what is it what’s wrong?” She asked.
“Rudy’s been kidnapped.” He told Jaime. “The twins are safe with Russ and on their way home.”
“Rudy’s been kidnapped? Come on Steve let’s get back home.” Jaime jumped to her feet and gathered up their stuff.
They headed out the door of their hotel room Hector stood on the other side. “Nice evening isn’t it Col. Austin?” Hector said with a sneer as he poked a gun at them…
Steve and Jaime let Hector lead them down the hall. Steve would have tried something but Hector held the gun on Jaime and he was concerned he might shoot her in the stomach or something. ‘Does he know she’s pregnant?’ Steve thought to himself.
They were forced into Hector’s car. “Now we are going to find out all we need to know about your bionics.” Hector said as they drove along the highway back toward Washington.
“Now you two just keep quiet” Hector ordered. He made Steve was driving so he could sit in the backseat with Jaime and hold the gun on her. “One false move Austin and I blow them both away.”
Steve turned toward the backseat and glared at Hector. “That’s right I know all about your baby. The freaks are going to have a freak for a kid. That is if they live long enough to see it born.” Hector laughed. “You take a right at the next corner.” Hector ordered.
Steve followed his directions till they came to a farmhouse on the outskirts of the City.
“This is the place.” Hector told him to turn in.
They got out of the car Hector continued to hold the gun on Jaime. “Just go on inside Col.” Hector shoved them toward the door.
“I’m sure you will be most anxious to see who is waiting for us on the other side.”
‘I’m sure I already know.’ Steve whispered to Jaime. ‘Hector’s partner Agee and Rudy.’
Jaime gave a slight nod.
Agee opened the door “I got Wells but I couldn’t find the kid. Obviously he went on the fishing trip alone.”
Hector forced Steve and Jaime into the house. Rudy was sitting in a chair. He looked pretty bad.
“What happened?” Hector asked.
“He wouldn’t cooperate.” Agee stated. “He still won’t tell me where the bionic kid is.” Agee continued.
“Well we don’t need the kid we have these two.” Hector proclaimed.
“I thought we could get farther if we had the bionic kid too.” Agee stated. “He wasn’t at the lodge though. I would have sworn Wells was taking them fishing.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“Dad?” Marc asked after Russ dropped them off. “What is going on?”
“Nothing Marc. Everything is just fine.” Oscar lied.
“I don’t believe you!” Marc yelled.
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t use that tone with me.” He turned to both boys standing in front of him. ‘You two go on up to bed. It’s way past your bed time.”
“Dad?” Marc argued.
“Marc, please. Go to bed. I’ll talk to you in the morning.”
Dejected the twins headed up to their rooms. “I just wish dad wouldn’t treat me like a baby.” Marc grumbled.
“Maybe he’ll tell you what’s going on in the morning.” Matt assumed.
Marc turned back to Oscar. “What about Agee? Who’s he? And why did he take Rudy?
“He didn’t take Rudy. Rudy is fine.” Oscar continued to lie.
Marc spun around. “I don’t believe you!! Something is wrong and I want to know!”
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“Well that’s good. Now if we can just get Wells to make a bionic man for us we will do just fine.” Agee said then he turned to Steve and Jaime.
“How inhospitable of me. Please have a seat. We’ll let you know when your services are required.”
Hector turned their attention to Rudy. “Now Dr. You are going to build a bionic man for us.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Rudy seethed.
“Ok.” Hector said. “You will cooperate in the morning it’s late anyway.” He continued shoving him into a chair.
Hector then turned to Jaime. “I thought we told you to sit!” He pushed her onto the couch next to Steve.
Rudy turned to Jaime. ‘I made the twins get out of the room are they ok or have you heard’ He whispered.
Again Jaime gave a slight nod. And Rudy breathed a sigh of relief.
“Now we have here Agee.” Hector began. “Two bionic people and the Dr. who created them. My only question is which one will give in first?”
Agee viewed the situation. “I say we work the Dr. over. I have a feeling these two don’t want to see him hurt.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“We have to find them Russ.” Oscar said the next morning when Russ arrived and told them they had had no luck. I have no idea where Agee and Hector took them. I’m afraid Marc will go after them if we don’t find them soon. He’s already wondering what is going on.”
“We’ll find them Oscar. I think we have a lead.” Russ told him “Where is Marc by the way.”
“He’s across the street playing with Teddy I guess that’s one nice thing about neighbors.” Oscar surmised.
“Just so long as he stays there.” Russ stated. “Like I said I think we have a lead.”
“I’ll let you work on it then.” Oscar said.
Russ left the house to check on the new lead they had acquired
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
Jaime, Steve and Rudy had caught a few restless winks where they were on the couch and the chairs they were sitting in. Agee and Hector had taken turns guarding them through the night.
“What do you suppose they have planned for us today.” Jaime spoke as she and Steve woke up.
“I don’t know.” Rudy sighed. “But I have a feeling it won’t be pleasant.
“Rudy, there is no way we are going to let them hurt you. Let’s see if we can stall them. Tell them you will do what they want.
“That might work. I’m sure Oscar and Russ are bound to find us soon.” Rudy agreed.
Hector and Agee had been on the other side of the room “What are you three talking bout?” They demanded.
“Nothing.” Steve offered, “We have decided to cooperate with you.”
“Oh you have, have you?” Agee moved closer to them.
“Yes. But what your asking for I just can’t produce overnight.” Rudy explained.
“Which are we talking about?” Hector joined them the bionics, or the cloning? We want both.”
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“We think we are closing in on them. We have an address we are getting ready check on.”
“Well let’s hope it leads to something.” Oscar sighed. “I don’t know how much longer I can hold Marc off.”
“I’ll keep you informed.” Russ hung up
“Was that Russ?” Marc asked standing outside his dad’s office door.
“Yes Marc they are close to finding them. So just relax “
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
Rudy turned to Steve and Jaime, then back to Hector and Agee. “Cloning?” He asked.
“We know all about that.” Hector sneered. “We heard you talking about it on the tapes. If you want we can go get the brainy kid that does the cloning. “
Rudy, Steve and Jaime tried to look shocked.
“Come on. We know she is going to have his clone.” Agee pointed to Steve and Jaime
“That is the most remarkable thing I have ever heard.” Rudy stammered. “Cloning? Sounds rather interesting.”
Hector turned to Agee. “Ok. Go get the kid. Maybe he’s not as dumb as these people here.”
“I’m on my way boss.” Agee said, as he got ready to leave.
“Look we said we would give you a bionic man, can’t you just leave it at that?” Steve barked.
“No we can’t we want a clone of us.” Hector snorted.
“It’s not that simple.” Rudy explained.
“It was for the kid. What is he smarter than you or something?”
“Or something.” Rudy replied.
“Go get the kid.” Hector ordered.
Agee started out the front door of the farmhouse to everyone’s relief Russ’ voice called out
“Hold it right there Agee! We have you surrounded.
Hector tried to grab Jaime to use as a hostage but Steve was to quick for him. He grabbed the gun out of Hector’s hands and threw it at the back of Agee’s head knocking him to the ground.
Jaime grabbed Hector by the back of the shirt and kicked him out the front door into the waiting arms of Russ and his team of agents.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
“Well.” Jaime said as they sat around Oscar’s living room. I’m just glad that is over with.”
“Yea me too.” Steve agreed. He turned to Oscar. “Hector and Agee are back where they belong?”
They sure are.” Oscar assured.
“Let’s hope they stay there.” Steve sighed.
“Where are the kids?” Steve asked.
“They have been at their friends most of the morning.” Oscar told them. “Marc suspects something was wrong, but I think I held him off.”
“Any way you two.” Rudy turned to Steve and Jaime. Are you still planning on going on your honeymoon? I mean are you going to try it again?”…
“Of course. You still going to take the twins fishing?”
“This weekend.” Rudy smiled.
“Same here.” Steve smiled back. “I just hope everything works out this time.”
“I’m sure it will.” Oscar assured.
Marc stepped into the living room. “Steve. Are you and Jaime ok?”
“Sure partner. We’re fine.” Steve smiled at him. “Why do you ask?”
“Well.” Marc started. “First of all Rudy told Matt and I to leave the room and call dad, then when Russ picked us up Rudy was…”
“Marc everything is fine now.” Oscar explained.
“I think you should tell me the next time…”
“Marc.” Steve interrupted. “You’re just a kid. There will be plenty of time for you to get your feet wet. Right now just sit back and watch. Ok?”
“Yea, I guess so.” Marc sighed. “But I want to help.” Marc grumbled.
“Marc.” Oscar started “You will have plenty of chances to help. Right now we want you to enjoy you childhood while you can. For the first time since you moved in with me, you and Matt actually have friends.” Oscar continued
“Yea, I guess you’re right.” Marc headed out the door to catch up with Matt and the rest of the kids.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
The following weekend everyone started out again. “Steve, why don’t you and Jaime plan on having dinner here when you come back?” Oscar offered
“That sounds great Oscar. I think we will. He turned to the twins “Now you two behave for Rudy, understand?”
“We will Steve.” The called, as they climbed into the back seat of Rudy’s car.
After Rudy left with the kids Jaime and Steve climbed into their car and headed out them selves.
“I just hope everything works out for them this time.” Dan said as the three of them headed into the house.
“I’m sure it will.” Oscar stated as he watched the two cars head down the driveway.
“Well, here we go again.” Steve said as he pulled the car onto the street.
“Yea,” Jaime agreed. I just hope this trip isn’t as eventful as the last time I’m ready for a little rest and relaxation. Are we going back to Philadelphia?”
“No. I thought we would take in the sights of New York. I’ve been there only once and that was on an assignment. I never really got to check it out.”
“New York sounds great to me.” Jaime agreed as she sat back and made herself comfortable for the trip.
They drove for several miles in silence. “Steve? Are you all right?” Jaime asked. “You are so quiet.”
“Yea I guess I’m ok. I just can’t shake what Hector said to us.” Steve sighed.
“He said plenty. What are you referring to?” Jaime wondered.
“It was what he said about our baby. About the freaks were going to have a freak of their own.”
“That bothered you?” Jaime asked “I just dismissed it for what it was worth. Nothing. Look who said it? He‘s not the most creditable man around.”
“I know you’re right. It just bothers me.” Steve said as he continued to drive.
“Well don’t let it. Listen Steve. We can’t have a baby the ‘normal’ way because you had the mumps, remember? Not because you are bionic. There is nothing freaky about that. There are a lot of people in the same boat we are. We just happen to have a genius kid who was able to give us what we really wanted.”
“Yea I guess you’re right. I just don’t like being referred as a…Well that word.” Steve sighed.
“I know I don’t like it either, but like I said. Hector has the nerve to talk.”
They checked into their New York City hotel room
“Well what should we do first?” Steve asked.
“Why don’t we just do a little sight seeing? To be real honest I’d rather just spend most of the time in the hotel room.” Jaime muttered.
“Oh really?” Steve raised his eyebrows.
“I mean just talking.” Jaime gave him a shove. “You are the one who said you wanted me to yourself before the baby came?”
“Yea I guess you’re right.” Steve agreed.
They spent the remainder of the weekend talking and taking in the sights of the City.
smdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdmsmdm
When the weekend was over they all gathered at Oscar’s house. “So, what ‘s for dinner?” Steve asked. “Fish?”
“No.” Rudy stated. “We didn’t catch any fish. The only thing the twins caught was a cold.”
“Are they alright?” Steve asked.
“Yea they are fine. They are playing upstairs.” Rudy told him. “Did you and Jaime have a good time?”
“Yea we did. We took in all the sights I guess, took a couple of tours. It’s a nice place I wouldn’t mind living there someday.”
“It was fun.” Jaime agreed. “I don’t know if I would want to live there or not. But we did have a good time.”
“By the way Oscar, how do the twins like having their own rooms?” Steve asked.
“I’ll admit, it was a little hard at first, but now they love it. I think they actually want their own space.” Oscar explained.
“I never really looked at it till tonight.” Jaime started. “It’s a nice house. “
“Yea we seem to like it pretty well. And the best part is that there are kids to play with.” Oscar added
“That Teddy seems like a nice boy.” Jaime went on.”
“Yea, I think he is.” Oscar finished.
“Does Marc still feel that you moved because of him?” Steve wondered
“I think I have him convinced that isn’t the case.” Oscar stated. “We all had a long conversation about it just the other day. He feels better.”
“Well that’s good.” Steve sighed. “I just can’t believe he felt that way to begin with. Maybe I’m not helping him after all.”
“Of course you are Steve.” Rudy pointed out. “Marc has come along ways. He doesn’t have nightmares anymore….”
“Yea well we’ve done a pretty good job of shielding him to Rudy.” Oscar indicated.
“That’s true, but Oscar you have to admit Marc is doing much better.” Rudy reminded.
“Except for the fact that he keeps running away to assist Steve on assignments.” Oscar interjected.
‘Yea, we have to stop him from doing that.” Steve added. “I’ll admit the last time I was pretty happy to see him considering the fact that Bacon did what he did. I was real happy to see Marc, but disappointed that he ran away from Rudy.”
“I was a little nervous myself.” Rudy put in.
“I started to have a talk with him that other day in the park. The day that Barney escaped.” Steve began. “Maybe I should have another talk with him.”
“That might not be a bad idea Steve.” Oscar said. “Marc seems to want to help out”
“He has to understand he’s way to young. I don’t know what would have happened it Bacon had gotten hold of him.” Steve added.
“Bacon knows about Marc?” Oscar was shocked.
“I thought you knew. He saw the two of us the day before he kidnapped me. That’s how he got me. He told me he would hurt Marc.”
“Well he didn’t, and the last I heard, he’s in prison for life. So I don’t think we have to worry about Stanley Bacon anymore.”
“Let’s just hope he stays put.” Rudy muttered.
“What did you say Rudy?” Oscar wondered.
“Aw nothing.” Rudy sighed.
